The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining environment, health and safety (EHS) policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment in compliance with Malaysian laws and regulations, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) requirements. The role involves conducting safety inspections, monitoring safety practices, risk and opportunity assessments, training, and promoting a safe working environment and awareness for all employees in align to company Integrated Management System (IMS).

Responsibilities :

  • Ensure compliance with local occupational safety and health regulations, particularly Occupational Safety and Health Act and related statutory requirements
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace, equipment, and operations
  • Perform risk and opportunity assessments and implement appropriate control measures.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions and opportunity for improvement
  • Develop, enhance and update safety training modules, provide safety training to all employees and contractors / vendors
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related documentation, including inspection reports, permits, safety training records and compliance audits
  • Coordinate and develop emergency response drills and preparedness programs
  • Serve as the point of contact for regulatory bodies such as DOSH (JKKP) and BOMBA
  • Promote a strong safety culture through continuous engagement and communication with employees at all levels

Requirements :

  • Diploma / Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related disciplines.
  • Registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH Malaysia
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a facilities management, manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment
  • Good knowledge of Malaysian safety regulations, ISO 45001, and risk management
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with high level of proficiency in verbal and written English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • A team player with the ability to lead a team and work across all levels
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Possesses project management skills
  • Good analytical skills, result oriented, innovative, organized, detailed and committed to deadlines
  • Humble, disciplined, proactive, hardworking and willing to travel
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and assertiveness, ability to plan and manage work in an efficient manner, and ability to work collaboratively yet independently in a fast-paced environment
