The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining environment, health and safety (EHS) policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment in compliance with Malaysian laws and regulations, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) requirements. The role involves conducting safety inspections, monitoring safety practices, risk and opportunity assessments, training, and promoting a safe working environment and awareness for all employees in align to company Integrated Management System (IMS).
Responsibilities :
- Ensure compliance with local occupational safety and health regulations, particularly Occupational Safety and Health Act and related statutory requirements
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace, equipment, and operations
- Perform risk and opportunity assessments and implement appropriate control measures.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions and opportunity for improvement
- Develop, enhance and update safety training modules, provide safety training to all employees and contractors / vendors
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related documentation, including inspection reports, permits, safety training records and compliance audits
- Coordinate and develop emergency response drills and preparedness programs
- Serve as the point of contact for regulatory bodies such as DOSH (JKKP) and BOMBA
- Promote a strong safety culture through continuous engagement and communication with employees at all levels
Requirements :
Diploma / Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related disciplines.Registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH MalaysiaMinimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a facilities management, manufacturing, construction, or industrial environmentGood knowledge of Malaysian safety regulations, ISO 45001, and risk managementExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with high level of proficiency in verbal and written English and Bahasa MalaysiaA team player with the ability to lead a team and work across all levelsProficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Possesses project management skillsGood analytical skills, result oriented, innovative, organized, detailed and committed to deadlinesHumble, disciplined, proactive, hardworking and willing to travelAbility to demonstrate initiative and assertiveness, ability to plan and manage work in an efficient manner, and ability to work collaboratively yet independently in a fast-paced environment
