What is the opportunity?

Our client is a specialist provider of asset services, custody, payments and treasury services. Founded in 1864, they are the 10th largest bank worldwide and the 5th in North America, as measured by market capitalization. Our client has a processing centre of operational excellence supporting 10 countries across three geographical time zones employing a Global Operating Model to maximise efficiencies across times zones and supports a 24 / 5 operational capability. The objectives for Malaysia are to enhance the scalability of their global operations, improve service quality via their ‘centres of excellence’ and to implement / leverage standardised processes globally.

This role works within Securities Operations department which is part of Wealth Management Asia team. The department covers various processes such as Corporate Actions & Life Cycle Management, Securities & Equity Derivatives Settlement, Asset Transfers & Funds Settlement and Regulatory Reporting. The role also offers exposure to broader areas within Securities Operations to take ownership of related tasks and contribute across various operational functions as needed. Responsible for timely and accurate end to end processing of Securities & Derivatives transactions according to defined SLAs and handling queries from internal and external parties.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for timely and accurate end to end processing of Securities & Derivatives Settlement, Corporate Action Events and Asset Transfer according to defined SLAs. Products covered : Equity, Fixed Income, Exchange Traded Funds, Structured Notes, Equity Derivatives, Mutual Funds
  • Ensuring Mutual Fund transactions being captured accurately, verified against external confirmations, instructions sent to counterparties / custodians, payments sent / received, trade settlement, client advices generated and sent to the client
  • Processing of trailer fees received from fund houses to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure that all transactions and fundings are processed in accordance to bank rule, circulars, procedures and local requirements
  • Manage requests and queries within stipulated timeframe
  • Adherence to all control points in place
  • Cash and security breaks investigation and escalation
  • Demonstrate clear understanding and adherence to WM escalation protocol
  • Review process flows and initiate process improvements via change requests, defects
  • Participate in projects, strategic initiatives and testing
  • Demonstrate clear understanding and apply the RBC Values, cultures and leadership model in all daily dealings
  • Active enrollment in courses offered by Learning & Development team and to apply knowledge gained in day to day processing
  • Provide relief support and other duties assigned and cross train on all functions performed with the team and across department

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Good to have working experience within a Securities Operation team / department
  • Good working knowledge of global practices in relation to corporate actions & settlements
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details
  • Good inter-personal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Committed and responsible with an attitude to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Nice-to-have

  • Familiarity with Avaloq system, Omgeo CTM & Alert, Bloomberg
