Responsibilities
- Able to support senior counsels in providing legal advice on a diverse range of matters, particularly relating to commercial and contractual, employment, privacy, intellectual property, and real estate issues across the business and operations for 12 APAC countries (including China).
- Able to support senior counsel in working autonomously and independently with key business stakeholder relationships across APAC (including China).
- Able to support senior counsel and assist in the development of the business and collaborate with other members of the legal & compliance team and regional management team to develop and deliver key legal & compliance functions and outcomes.
- Able to assist in developing relationships, processes and procedures across 12 APAC countries (including China) to provide efficient and effective legal services to the respective business teams through the identification and management of risk.
- Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a range of commercial agreements with our customers, vendors and suppliers.
- Able to support and assist the business in resolving contractual disputes, administrative actions with customers and suppliers, and non-compliance with relevant government authorities; provide support in disputes, regulatory actions, and legal notices across 12 APAC countries (including China).
- Able to assist in corporate secretarial service support with the assistance of external legal and corporate secretarial service providers.
- Providing support and assisting in any legal & compliance project either regionally or globally.
- Able to support in providing legal & compliance trainings to the business and operations across 12 APAC countries.
- Regularly monitor legal updates (cases, legislation, regulations, media releases from relevant authorities and regulators) and keep stakeholders regularly updated on all relevant matters.
- Providing support to Corporate Counsel & Head of Legal & Compliance, APAC on any matter as may be instructed by them.
- Establish good working relations with external law firms supporting PSA BDP Group in APAC.
- Extending support in managing compliance issues where necessary across 12 APAC countries.
Qualifications
Minimum LLB or JD or equivalent from a top law school / university in Singapore, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand; JD from universities in America.Admitted as an advocate and solicitor in Malaysia or any other preferred jurisdiction.5 to 10 years (or equivalent) PQE or relevant training from international or top-mid law firms or in-house roles in Malaysia with exposure to corporate / commercial matters in a multinational, public listed, or large Malaysian company.Able to read, write and draft in Chinese; ability to speak or write in another Asian language is advantageous.Strong multitasking, organizational and time-management skills; able to work autonomously as well as part of a broader team.Commercially aware with a practical, common-sense approach to legal matters.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.Ability to build collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders across 12 APAC countries (including China).Dynamic and adaptable to new challenges; high integrity and responsibility; able to speak up when needed.Resilient and able to pivot quickly with a positive attitude; able to enforce new ways of working or compliance requirements; comfortable in a fast-paced environment with high-quality outcomes.This role reports to the Corporate Counsel & Head of Legal & Compliance, APAC, based in Singapore.
