Overview
Mintel is seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to join our Shared Service Facility team in Kuala Lumpur. This entry-level role supports regional Revenue Accountants in contract processing, invoicing, revenue recognition, and accurate recording of income against accounting standards. The position also involves calculating margin allocations for various revenue streams, maintaining deferred income allocations, and supporting the calculation of sales commissions, to provide a robust Accounts Receivable process for Mintel.
What You Will Be Doing
- Maintain weekly revenue reconciliations for each region to support invoicing processing.
- Prepare journals for revenue accruals, deferrals, and adjustments.
- Support monthly / quarterly / annual close activities including revenue recognition checks.
- Assist in the preparation of intercompany revenue matching and reconciliation.
- Support audits by preparing revenue and Accounts Receivable schedules.
- Work with regional sales teams, billing and contracts processing teams, and credit control to resolve billing issues.
- Provide support to regional finance teams during budgeting and forecasting cycles.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with appropriate revenue recognition standards.
- Prepare monthly calculation of commissions.
- Support in enforcing company revenue recognition policies, and contribute to process improvement.
- Assist in ad hoc financial analysis relating to pricing, customer contracts or product line.
- Work across departmental teams dealing with Sales, Legal, Customer Success, Contracts Processing and Billing teams.
- Carry out any other ad-hoc tasks as directed by the Line Manager.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field.Part-qualified or working towards ACA, CPA or ACCA, or equivalent certification.Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, particularly in Accounts Receivable and revenue recognition.Prior experience supporting multi-regional or intercompany transactions.Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas).Detail-oriented mindset with a desire to learn.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Must be flexible to work on staggered hours to support UK & US timing.Flexible to work when required during Malaysian public holidays with replacement holidays provided.What We Offer
