Overview
Responsible for overseeing development, socialisation and execution of GPS strategic objectives. The holder manages GPS risk and control culture to deliver the highest standards of first line risk management, robust risk mitigation and fair outcomes for customers across the GPS franchise. This role also oversees all country business management activity, driving consistency and efficiency in relation to GPS operating model, financial controls, prioritisation, governance, and oversight across GPS.
Principal Accountabilities
- In collaboration with GPS MYH Mancom members, design, advance, and execute GPS strategies in support of the Groups Payment ambition.
- Develop frameworks that support the prioritization of strategic initiatives and evaluate investment opportunities for their strategic and financial value. Prioritize project activities and coordinate resources to achieve project goals.
- Facilitate and maintain a deep understanding of GPS capability model, its key strengths and any potential or emerging gaps and develop priorities aligned to achievement of GPS strategic ambition and objectives.
- Bring timely insights, analytical support, and actionable recommendations in support of GPS strategic objectives.
- Maintain excellent commercial and business landscape knowledge, to provide solid foundational context for critical strategic projects.
- Lead high quality strategic reviews working collaboratively with key stakeholders to uncover significant opportunities, key strategic challenges, or critical operational blockers.
- Organise and prioritise critical issues and required information for the Head of GPS to facilitate efficient decision making including review of all internal and external communications, reports, speeches or presentations for Head of GPS.
- Create and facilitate highly engaging and informative materials for Country OpCo, CIB Governance, Regional GPS governance and other groups as required to offer challenge, assess trends, and stimulate strategic thinking about GPS future direction.
- Lead compelling thought leadership on topics such as industry and market trends, technology advancements and innovation, strategic transformation, and partnerships to support achievement of competitive advantage.
- Co-ordination and deployment of the Groups capital and investment allocation in GPS.
- Oversight of business performance including all metrics and data points, tracking against strategic deliverables.
- Define and implement the GPS risk appetite and related policies and procedures.
- Ownership of all risk governance and oversight within GPS, ensuring appropriate visibility of key and emergent risks and issues.
- Implement a robust Non-Financial Risk Management framework globally and governance to ensure adherence.
- Provide periodic updates to regulatory stakeholders on business strategies and key risk and conduct initiatives.
- Drive tone from the top and develop a strong risk, conduct and speak up culture.
- Ensure adherence to Group policies, procedures, and strategies within GPS globally and ownership of GPS FIMs including annual update and sign off.
Requirements
Experience
Strong knowledge of the payments industry and understanding of broader fintech ecosystem, trends, stakeholder dynamics and consumer preferences.Malaysia market experience incorporating dynamics including political, financial, cultural and regulatory landscapes. Payment’s sector advantageous.A proven track record of delivering high impact results in relation to strategy / storyline development, execution and growth initiatives.Commercially astute and financially literate with experience of conducting financial analyses, including financial assessment of strategic options. Consistent record of having met challenging financial and business targets.Strong track record of leading and motivating high performing teams.Superior networking with ability to build and maintain influential relationships with senior-level executives at large, complex organizations.Tremendous written and verbal communications skills proven in the senior-level corporate environment. Ability to interpret large amounts of data summarise meaningfully for Stakeholders and Senior Management.Considerable risk experience within HSBC or financial markets, notably in the areas of operational risk and internal control.Ability to demonstrate high levels of resilience, delivering under pressure to tight deadlines in a change oriented, fast paced environment.Personal Characteristics
