Technical Sales Application Engineer
Location : Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia
Role overview and responsibilities focus on technical sales support, bid preparation, and the development of technical and commercial proposals for service-based work in the High Voltage transmission sector across Malaysia and Asia Pacific.
Your responsibilities
- Summary Skills : Technical Sales, Bid preparation, strategy building, cost analysis.
- Review Request for Quotations (RFQ) received from customers and develop and prepare technical and commercial offers with identification of key scope that highlights our OEM value.
- Lead overall cost integration and analysis with consideration for technical and commercial risk assessment prior to final pricing.
- Collate and prepare tender documentation including drawings, technical data sheets, bill of materials, method statements, project plans, QHSE documentation, time schedules, etc.
- Prepare outside purchase equipment RFQ(s) and work with regional supply chain managers to engage and align for a compliant offer.
- Interface with operations, engineering, and factories worldwide to optimize technical and commercial offerings and resolve configurations and technical changes, including prioritization of works as required.
- Identify cost and time-saving opportunities within the proposal development process or from non-conformance instances as lessons learned; implement process improvement initiatives.
- Provide support to sales during product promotions, site walk-downs and visits, negotiations, and follow-up activities as necessary.
- Prepare, review and book customer orders / revisions to orders as well as order management for spare parts and handling orders to factories and suppliers.
- Support development of proposal resource library (text and visual aids) and provide input into business cases and go-to-market approaches.
- Investigate and provide recommendations on ways to localize scope, improve processes, and grow the business.
Qualifications and experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred.4+ years’ experience working for a major electrical contractor, with proven experience in the preparation of quotations for service-based work.Experience and / or work experience in an engineering role or as a site / field service technical expert is beneficial.Experience and knowledge of High Voltage transmission industry in Malaysia and throughout Asia Pacific.Positive attitude to work in challenging environment and in embracing high performance culture.Understands cultural differences and copes with them effectively.Strong competence in using IT tools including Microsoft Word and Excel, SAP, and Salesforce applications.Professional English required; additional Asian languages will be a benefit.Seniority level
