Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and finalize legal documents such as Family Constitution, Deeds, Wills, Trusts, POAs, MOUs, NDAs, and client agreements; ensure documents align with governance structures and client expectations; liaise with clients and internal departments for accurate implementation.
- Contract Management & Implementation Support – Provide legal risk assessment and enforceability advice; Contribute to family governance structuring and cross-border implementation.
- External Counsel Coordination – Liaise with external counsel on legal advisory, documentation review, and dispute matters; Manage legal opinions to ensure internal and client alignment.
- Regulatory Compliance Oversight – Ensure compliance with SC, BNM, Labuan IBFC, and other self-regulatory organizations, as applicable; Oversee regulatory filings and licensing renewals, where applicable; Maintain vigilance over regulatory changes and audit requirements.
- Internal Policy Management – Assist the Division in leading the development and implementation of internal SOPs (such as AML, privacy, conflicts); Conduct compliance meetings with department heads from time to time; Assist the Division to conduct in-house training on legal topics, AML / CFT, and onboarding procedures; Promote regulatory awareness and legal literacy among staff.
- Client Due Diligence & KYC – Assist the Division to conduct and review client onboarding (KYC, risk classification, source of wealth verification).
- Governance & Succession Advisory – Assist the Division in advising clients on structuring, succession planning and legal documentation.
- Departmental Management – Assist in team performance reviews, recruitment, and reporting discipline.
- Others – Assist the Division in fulfilling and aligning with the Company’s objectives, mission, vision and strategic goals as required by the Company’s management.
Qualifications
Law degree (LLB or equivalent)Candidate with a professional qualification (e.g., Bar admission, CLP, etc.) will be an advantage.Postgraduate qualifications in corporate / compliance / legal fields will be an advantage.7-9 years’ experience in legal and compliance.Background in private client, wealth management, family office, or trust / estate planning would be an advantage.Strong knowledge of contract law, trust and estate law, and regulatory frameworks.Application
