Overview
We are seeking a technically strong leader based in Malaysia to head our North America region projects. The Lead Engineer will take ownership of regional delivery, technical solutioning, and team leadership, ensuring that all projects meet performance, scalability, and compliance standards. This role operates under a follow-the-sun model, requiring alignment with North America time zones.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead architecture and design decisions for regional implementations.
- Act as the technical escalation point for North America, resolving complex engineering issues.
- Support customer IT / security discussions in collaboration with global product / business teams.
- Oversee technical delivery of regional projects, ensuring quality and timelines are met.
- Manage risks and dependencies, providing technical direction when needed.
- Align technical deliverables with business priorities and global strategies.
- Mentor engineers, fostering growth in both technical depth and delivery excellence.
- Drive best practices in coding, testing, security, and deployment.
- Build a culture of technical rigor and accountability.
Process Contribution
Contribute to refining processes for system design, deployment, and support.Ensure local practices align with global standards and compliance requirements.Suggest improvements for efficiency and scalability.Coordinate with the Malaysia-based team to ensure effective handover of client and partner information, maintaining continuity across time zones.Facilitate regular updates and shared documentation to support seamless execution of sales strategies and client engagements.Required Skills and Qualifications
Must-Have :
8+ years in software engineering with at least 3+ years in a technical leadership role.Strong hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot), APIs, databases (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MSSQL), and system integration.Knowledge of security and compliance standards (e.g., PCI DSS, MPoC, SPoC, OWASP).Proven ability to lead teams while remaining hands-on technically.Strong problem-solving and communication skills.Nice-to-Have :
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).Exposure to mobile or terminal payment solutions.Experience supporting pre-sales technical discussionsSeniority level
