Senior Legal Counsel / Legal Counsel, Corporate Governance
Job Responsibilities
- Provide legal advisory support to Senior Management, departments and branches on a wide range of legal, regulatory and governance matters.
- Draft, review and negotiate legal documents, agreements and credit facility documentation to ensure compliance and enforceability.
- Manage and oversee legal risks affecting the Bank’s businesses, products and operations, including litigation and external counsel management.
- Review and update standard documentation, policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Monitor and liaise with panel solicitors to ensure quality of services and timely delivery.
- Conduct legal research and keep the Bank updated on new laws, regulations and case developments relevant to corporate governance, compliance and banking operations.
- Keep abreast with new legal developments and update all relevant departments.
- Support continuous improvement of governance, Anti-Bribery & Corruption compliance and integrity culture across the Bank.
- Provide reporting on legal risk matters to Senior Management, Board Committees of the Bank and Head Office in China on periodic basis.
- To undertake any ad-hoc tasks as and when required by Head of Department and / or the Senior Management.
Job Requirements
Possess a Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB). Admission to the Malaysian Bar is an advantage but not mandatory.Minimum 3-8 years of relevant experience in corporate, banking finance. Experience in a legal practice or financial institution is an added advantage.Familiarity with Bank Negara Malaysia’s rules and regulations and other prevailing laws governing the banking institutions.Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint.Good verbal and written communication in both English and Mandarin.Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management.Able to work with minimum supervision and strives to meet tight deadlines.We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from qualified candidates.
