Failure Analysis Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities

• Resources Management

Develops Laboratory Management system and systematically incorporate Reliability & Failure Analysis processes. Maintains FA tracking list and equipment log sheet.  Maintains the laboratory as an orderly and safe work area. Actively seek out and utilize technical expertise from within the company and from outside sources to assist in failure analysis or data analysis.

Interface with process owners to understand products' key processes which essential to identify failure mechanism and during analysis results communication.

Understand internal and external stakeholders' analysis needs versus encountered failure symptom; using appropriate failure analytics techniques with optimized time and cost to meet stakeholders' requirements.

Conduct hands-on FA by effectively utilizing necessary analytical techniques.

Sourcing of external laboratories, accessing the failure analysis capabilities and techniques for advance FA that not available in-house.

Evaluate analysis outcomes to determine failure mechanism, which aid in root cause and CA / PA identification to eliminate the failure mechanism.

Provides clear and concise documentation of results and publish reports.

Participates in cross-functional Product / Process Development, Operation or Supplier / Customer meetings to communicate analysis results.

Whenever needed, perform data analysis to support root cause investigation, and understand failure trends / pareto trends.

Working closely with Product / Process Development, Operation teams to support and implement high-quality and data-driven decisions.

To support the implementation of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 & IATF 16949 systems.

Leverage your experience and knowledge to grow teammates' FA technical breadth and depth through experience sharing.

Other projects or tasks as per assigned by superior.

Job Requirements

Knowledge

 Understand organization key processes and its interactions.

 Understand production processes.

 Basic knowledge of ISO9001, ISO 14000, ISO 45000 & IATF 16949

Technical / Work-based Skills

Good hands-on failure analysis skills on high-end & sophisticate products.

Hands on experience in SEM, EDX and FA.

 Equip with Surface and Chemical Analysis capabilities knowledge, eg. Digital Microscope, SEM / EDX, AFM, FTIR, IC, ICP-, GC-MS etc.

 Basic knowledge in QM-tools, Practical knowledge of quality assurance methods (Gage R&R, MSA, SPC, FMEA, etc.)

 Basic knowledge in data analysis principal or concept.

General Skills / Attributes

 Good communication, presentation, numeracy and computer literacy skills

 Good analytical and problem-solving skills

 Being result and deadline-driven

 Possesing good relationships with technical expertise from within the company and from external sources to assist in problem solving.

 Details oriented.

Experience

 2-5 years working experience in manufacturing field.

 Possess experience and knowledge of failure analysis principles and methods

 Added advantage with working experience of data analysis.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or proven ability in similar job function.
