Job Description : Stamping Tooling Designer Executive (Engineering) Reports : Tooling Manager / Engineering Manager Responsibilities
Tooling Design & Development : Design stamping tools, dies, and related fixtures based on part drawings, CAD models, and engineering requirements. Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for manufacturing and assembly. Determine appropriate die construction, material selection, and manufacturing processes. Conduct feasibility studies and design reviews for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness. Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure dimensional accuracy. Simulate stamping processes using CAD / CAE software to optimize tool performance and reduce trial time. Tooling Support : Provide technical support during tool manufacturing, assembly, and tryout stages. Troubleshoot and resolve tooling design issues during production. Work closely with toolmakers, machinists, and production teams to implement design improvements. Documentation & Standards : Prepare complete technical documentation, including BOMs, tool drawings, and process sheets. Maintain tooling design standards and ensure compliance with customer and industry requirements. Analyze existing tooling for improvement opportunities in durability, performance, and maintenance. Support cost reduction and productivity improvement projects. Job Summary
The Stamping Tooling Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving stamping tools and dies used in the production of sheet metal parts. This role ensures that tooling designs meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements while complying with customer specifications and manufacturing capabilities. Technical Skills
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or equivalent). Understanding of sheet metal properties, manufacturing tolerances, and GD&T. Familiarity with CAM software and simulation tools (e.g., AutoForm) is an advantage. Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and efficiency. Working Conditions
Office and workshop environment with occasional shop floor presence. May require overtime or weekend work to meet project deadlines. Occasional travel for supplier visits, customer meetings, or training.
