The Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation-National Centre (KDSF-NC) is a non-profit organization committed to the welfare of children with Down Syndrome. Our main objective is to assist the students achieve their maximum potential. KDSF-NC implement the Early Intervention Programme (EIP), a special curriculum which emphasizes the development of gross motor, fine motor, speech and language, social, perceptual-cognitive and pre-academic skills. Role Description

The Special Education Needs (SEN) Teacher will engage with children aged 6 years and below who have Down syndrome, delivering teaching through the Early Intervention Programme. The role focuses on supporting holistic development across key domains, including gross motor and fine motor skills, speech and language, social and emotional skills, perceptual-cognitive abilities, and pre-academic readiness, using structured, play-based, and multisensory approaches tailored to each child’s individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct special education sessions for children with Down syndrome aged 2–6 years, focusing on holistic development (cognitive, language, social, motor, and self-help skills).
• Plan, prepare, and implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
• Collaborate with other professionals (e.g., therapists, programme coordinator, trainer) to strengthen and integrate educational programmes.
• Prepare and update Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and progress reports; meet with parents to review their child’s development and discuss IEP goals.
• Participate actively in professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and enhance professional competence.
• Design and adapt lesson plans that incorporate multisensory teaching methods, visual supports, and differentiated activities to suit the individual learning needs of each child.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of early intervention programmes at the Centre.
• Support and assist in fundraising activities or events organised by the Centre or the Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur.
