Senior Consultant – Automatic Fare Collection

Overview

Senior Consultant – Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) based in JB, Malaysia for a duration of 24 months. The role requires domain expertise in transit ticketing systems and AFC support on urban rail and metro projects in Asia, providing technical oversight, strategic guidance, and stakeholder coordination. Responsibilities

Provide subject matter expertise in AFC systems across multiple projects, including smart ticketing,

contactless payment , and backend clearing systems. Contribute to feasibility studies, concept designs, procurement support, and strategic advisory services related to fare collection systems. Act as Works Package Manager for AFC projects, supporting project teams with the review and approval of technical deliverables including design submissions, interface control documents, test plans, and system integration strategies. Facilitate workshops and technical discussions with clients, operators, technology vendors, and other stakeholders. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, or related field registered with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia Experience and Skills

10+ years of experience in rail or metro projects, with at least 3 years in AFC or ticketing systems. Proven experience managing contractors and technical deliverables. Familiar with AFC technologies such as smart card systems, QR code readers,

contactless payment , and backend clearing systems. Strong understanding of system integration and interface management. Effective oral and written communication. Team player and flexible to project needs; willing to travel to meet project requirements. Must have valid work authorization to work in Malaysia. Other requirements
