Mereka is seeking an experienced and driven Finance & Accounts Assistant Manager to join our team!
About the Role
As our Finance & Accounts Assistant Manager , you will :
- Lead and manage the finance & admin team — overseeing research, filing, data entry, and maintenance of accurate and complete financial records
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations : accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, business spend management, payroll, and bank reconciliations
- Maintain strong lines of communication with the Company Secretary, external auditors, and relevant regulatory authorities
- Prepare and present regular (e.g. monthly, quarterly) financial statements and reports to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders
- Assess and proactively manage financial risks across our operations and impact initiatives
- Design and implement internal controls, policies, and financial risk mitigation strategies to ensure compliance and limit exposure
- Identify and build strategic financial partnerships : with impact investors, financial institutions, grant agencies, and stakeholders in the startup / social impact ecosystem
- Negotiate and manage financial contracts, funding agreements, and collaboration deals
- Contribute to, and help execute, the organization’s broader financial strategy and growth roadmap
Location & Reporting : This role is based in Kuala Lumpur on a hybrid basis. You will report directly to the Group Strategic Finance Manager.
You are an ideal candidate if…
You hold a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline (professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is a plus)You have 5+ years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 1+ years in a leadership / supervisory capacityYou bring prior experience in a startup, growth‑stage, or mission-driven / social impact organization (where financial agility, transparency, and accountability matter)You have strong technical skills : financial modelling, forecasting, variance analysis, budgeting, management reportingYou are familiar with accounting software, ERPs, or financial systems (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Netsuite, or others)You can build and enforce internal controls, design policies, and embed financial discipline in operationsYou are comfortable interfacing with auditors, legal / compliance functions, regulators, and external financial stakeholdersYou possess strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to turn financial data into strategic insightsYou are a good communicator, comfortable presenting complex financial information to non‑finance leadership and stakeholdersYou are proactive, solutions-oriented, able to manage ambiguity, and thrive in fast-moving environmentsIf you are ready to bring your financial leadership to an impact-driven, creative, and ambitious organization, click on apply and send us your CV today.
