Position Title : Dean, Faculty of Medicine

Location : Kuala Lumpur

Malaysia Employment Type : Full-Time

Permanent Salary Range : RM35,000 – RM50,000

Position Summary

The University is seeking a highly accomplished, visionary, and dynamic academic leader to serve as its next Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. This senior role will provide strategic direction and leadership, enhance academic excellence, foster research, and ensure the development of future healthcare professionals.

The Dean will collaborate with senior leadership to drive growth, build external partnerships, and strengthen the University's position as a leader in medical education and research.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction across teaching, research, clinical care, and community engagement.

Oversee academic planning, policy development, and execution of growth initiatives.

Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Academic Excellence

Lead curriculum development to meet accreditation standards.

Mentor and support faculty development to enhance teaching and research capabilities.

Promote interdisciplinary learning across medical and allied health sciences programs.

Ensure students experience high-quality, innovative education from undergraduate through postgraduate levels.

Student Success

Drive student recruitment, retention, and professional development.

Provide mentorship and address student concerns.

Strengthen experiential learning and clinical training opportunities.

Research and Innovation

Promote a strong research culture among faculty and students.

Secure research funding and expand interdisciplinary collaborations.

Support faculty in producing impactful, innovative research.

Administrative Management

Manage budgets, resources, and staffing to achieve faculty goals.

Recruit, hire, and retain highly qualified faculty and staff.

Ensure compliance with professional, academic, and institutional standards.

Implement process improvements to optimize faculty operations.

External Engagement

Build partnerships with healthcare organizations, research institutions, and government bodies.

Represent the University in professional and international forums.

Enhance the visibility and impact of the Faculty's research and community engagement.

Cultivate relationships that align with the University's strategic goals.

Selection Criteria

Candidates must possess :

Academic Qualifications :

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognized by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC).

Postgraduate and / or specialist qualification in a relevant field.

PhD or equivalent research experience.

Professional Standing :

Credentials that merit appointment as Professor in the Faculty of Medicine.

Valid MMC registration and Annual Practicing Certificate.

Experience :

At least 7 years of academic leadership experience (e.g., Head of Department, Associate Dean, or Dean).

Proven success in curriculum development, accreditation processes, and strategic planning.

Strong research background with a record of publications and funding.

Skills & Competencies :

Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking ability.
