Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, agreements and other legal documents to safeguard the company's interests.
- Identify and evaluate legal issues arising from commitments made by the company and advise appropriate resolutions.
- Provide legal advice and guidance on corporate, commercial, employment, regulatory and compliance matters.
- Support corporate governance matters, including board resolutions, shareholder matters and regulatory filings.
- Advise on risk‑management and mitigation strategies in line with applicable laws and company policies.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments (e.g. AMLA, PDPA, Companies Act, Financial Services Act) and ensure business compliance.
- Liaise with external counsel, regulators and government authorities as required.
- Assist with mergers, acquisitions and formation of business entities within Malaysia and other markets.
- Assist in managing litigation, disputes or investigations, including coordination with external lawyers.
- Develop and implement internal policies, templates and training programmes to promote legal awareness.
- Maintain proper documentation and legal records.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Law degree from a recognised institution.Minimum 6 years of post‑qualification experience in corporate / commercial law.Admission to the Malaysian Bar.Experience in a regulatory and business environment, fintech or start‑up specialising in financial services (e‑money, remittance, money lending, investment products).Strong knowledge of Malaysian laws and regulations (Companies Act 2016, PDPA 2010, AMLA, Financial Services Act, E‑Money Regulations, Money Services Business Act 2011).Excellent drafting, analytical and negotiation skills.Well organised, detail‑oriented and able to multi‑task.Ability to set priorities and work under pressure.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organisation.Professional appearance and demeanour.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Benefits
