The BASF Service Hub Kuala Lumpur (BASF Asia-Pacific Service Centre Sdn Bhd) is strategically located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The hub provides finance, people, supply chain, EHSQ, product safety and digital services to BASF companies and affiliates across 20 markets in the Asia Pacific region and beyond. The hub operates in multiple languages and focuses on competency and technology-driven solutions to deliver high-quality services. BASF also has regional hubs in Berlin and Montevideo. Responsibilities
Deliver General Accounting & Reporting services to BASF SCKL customers in accordance with established financial reporting processes, work procedures, BASF policies, internal control requirements, and local legal / statutory requirements. Ensure timelines and quality meet agreed service levels and targets. Back up, assist with, and perform financial reporting tasks as required. Provide Financial Reporting transaction processing support with accuracy, completeness and timeliness; perform booking of accounting transactions and fixed asset transactions, master data maintenance, workings and account analysis. Clear open items in accounts; execute month-end close steps per work instructions and close checklist. Prepare month-end, quarter-end, year-end and statutory financial reports for BASF companies across Asia Pacific, including group reporting, internal management reporting, statutory reporting and ad hoc schedules (audit / tax) as required. Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for timely and accurate closure of accounts. Perform analytical reviews of P&L and balance sheet, trend analysis, cost center checks and transaction posting checks. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in Financial Reporting processes; liaise with stakeholders on work issues and queries. Initiate continuous improvement in operations; perform backup duties when required; perform other duties as delegated, including job rotation as needed. Compliance
Participate in compliance audits and respond to audit queries. Ensure work documentation and processes are updated and align with Internal Control Framework on a timely basis. Ensure compliance with BASF policies, financial reporting requirements, and local statutory requirements. Other Areas
Assist and support leadership in project initiatives (Continuous Improvements, Technology Enhancement, Internal Control, Six Sigma, Scorecard, etc.). Support other tasks as required by BSSCKL management and evolving business needs. Service Management
Work within the service management framework to provide timely and accurate customer service. Address customer queries promptly and proactively; monitor backlog and cycle time to improve process flow; ensure workflows are processed within agreed timelines. Quality & Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in consultation with leadership and team members; update process documentation as needed. Knowledge Management
Support knowledge transfer within the team; contribute to training materials for General Accounting & Reporting; participate in functional training; maintain a knowledge database of issues and resolutions; support onboarding and share best practices. Education & Experience
University degree in finance and accounting or business studies; Chartered or Certified Professional Accountant or equivalent is advantageous. Minimum 2 years’ experience in Financial Reporting or related accounting functions. Candidates with fewer years may be considered. Preferably experience with SAP or other major ERP systems; experience in a shared services or BPO environment is an advantage; experience in an MNC or Malaysian public-listed company is preferred. Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of financial reporting and accounting functions; proficiency in MS Office; strong English communication skills (additional languages are a plus).
