The Legal Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all legal functions of the Group, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate governance standards. This role requires a proactive leader who can provide strategic legal advice, manage external legal retainers, and support the Group’s business operations with sound legal solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all legal matters of the Group, including advisory work, litigation, contract management, compliance, and regulatory filings.
Provide accurate and practical legal advice on a wide range of commercial, corporate, and operational issues to support business objectives.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, contracts, and other legal documentation to protect the Group’s interests.
Oversee litigation matters and act as the liaison with retained litigation lawyers, particularly in areas involving housing, strata, company secretarial, land, and construction matters.
Monitor changes in legislation and advise management on potential implications for the Group’s operations, particularly in areas of corporate liability, tax, and compliance.
Represent the company in industrial relations matters, employee disputes, and hearings before relevant authorities in collaboration with the HR Department.
Conduct internal investigations on contract or employment-related violations and recommend appropriate legal actions.
Identify legal risks and implement robust corporate governance practices and risk management frameworks.
Ensure proper maintenance and safekeeping of all legal documents, correspondence, and records.
Support legal processes related to property development, conveyancing, and dispute resolution.
Manage and coordinate the work of external legal retainers to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality legal services.
Undertake any other legal assignments or projects as directed by the Head of Department or senior management.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB Hons), minimum Second Class Lower.
Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) – mandatory .
Admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Malaysian Bar.
Minimum 5–8 years of relevant legal experience , with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
Strong background in commercial and corporate law; exposure to litigation is essential.
Experience in property development, construction law, and land matters will be an added advantage.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels.
High level of integrity, independence, and ability to provide solutions in a fast-paced business environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Strong command of both English and Bahasa Malaysia, written and spoken.
