Overview
The Clerk of Works acts as the client’s representative on a construction site to ensure that workmanship, materials, and construction comply with the design specifications, contract documents, building regulations, and quality standards. They serve as the eyes and ears of the client during the construction phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Inspection & Monitoring : Regularly inspect the construction work to ensure quality and compliance with drawings and specifications; check that materials used meet required standards.
- Quality Control : Ensure that all construction activities are performed to high quality standards; identify and report any defects, poor workmanship, or deviations.
- Documentation & Reporting : Maintain detailed site records, including progress reports, photographs, site diaries, and inspection logs; prepare daily or weekly reports for the project manager / client.
- Compliance & Safety : Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations; ensure adherence to statutory and contractual requirements.
- Coordination & Communication : Liaise between contractors, consultants, and clients; attend site meetings and report findings or concerns.
- Testing & Commissioning Oversight : Witness testing of systems (electrical, HVAC) and ensure proper commissioning procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications :
Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Architecture, or a related field.Certification from a recognized professional body CIDB is an advantage.Experience :
Typically 4+ years of experience in construction, site supervision, or quality control.Proven track record in overseeing building, civil, M&E, or infrastructure works.Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and relevant codes / regulations.Skills :
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.Good communication and reporting abilities.Able to interpret technical documents and drawings.Knowledge of local building regulations and safety standards.#J-18808-Ljbffr
