About the Job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur within the Housekeeping Department, the Laundry Manager oversees all laundry operations—washing, drying, and pressing linens and uniforms—to ensure high‑quality standards. The role assists the Director of Housekeeping with budgeting, reporting, and coordinating with other departments and reports directly to the Director of Housekeeping.
Responsibilities
- Daily operations : Manage the efficient washing, drying, pressing, and folding of guest room linens, food & beverage textiles, and staff uniforms.
- Staff management : Supervise, train, schedule, and motivate laundry staff to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Quality control : Inspect linens for stains and damage, perform minor repairs, and ensure all items meet the hotel's quality standards.
- Inventory and supplies : Track inventory of linens, detergents, and other supplies, and requisition new items as needed.
- Equipment maintenance : Ensure laundry equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and serviced, coordinating with the engineering department for repairs.
- Budget management : Manage the departmental budget, control operational costs, and maximize financial performance.
- Safety and hygiene : Enforce health, safety, and hygiene standards in the laundry area and ensure compliance with hotel policies and local regulations.
- Interdepartmental coordination : Collaborate with other departments, like housekeeping and food & beverage, to meet their needs and resolve any related issues.
- Record keeping : Maintain accurate records of laundry operations, equipment usage, and staff schedules.
Qualifications
Minimum SPM qualification or a hotel school graduate preferred.A minimum of 3–5 years of laundry management experience.Effective communication skills.Ability to think critically, handle guest issues, and manage operational challenges.Benefits
