Senior Legal Manager – Infrastructure & Renewable Energy Projects

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Manager with a solid background in large-scale infrastructure or energy projects to lead the legal and contractual functions supporting project development, procurement, and execution. This hands‑on leadership role will provide strategic legal oversight, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance throughout the entire project lifecycle — from pre‑contract to delivery and operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive legal support for large-scale infrastructure and renewable energy projects, including project structuring, land acquisition, EPC, O&M, and joint venture agreements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial, construction, and procurement contracts (EPC, PPA, consultancy, supply, subcontractor, and financing agreements).
- Partner closely with Project Management, Procurement, Engineering, and Finance teams to align legal frameworks with operational and financial objectives.
- Manage and resolve contractual claims, disputes, and variations, including overseeing external counsel where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, licenses, and environmental frameworks governing infrastructure and renewable energy sectors.
- Advise management and the board on legal risks, corporate governance, and regulatory matters, ensuring proper internal controls and due diligence.
- Develop and implement standard contract templates, risk matrices, and compliance processes to enhance project delivery efficiency.
- Lead training and capability‑building initiatives to promote legal and contractual awareness across project and procurement teams.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB); admission to the Malaysian Bar or equivalent common‑law jurisdiction preferred.Minimum 8–10 years of post‑qualification experience, with proven track record in infrastructure, construction, or renewable energy projects.Strong expertise in contract negotiation, risk management, and dispute resolution within project‑based environments.Solid understanding of EPC, FIDIC, and government infrastructure contract structures.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to balance commercial objectives with legal safeguards.Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (engineering, project management, procurement, finance).Prior experience in large‑scale government‑linked or private sector infrastructure projects is highly advantageous.Preferred Attributes
