The Deputy GM / GM – Student Housing will be responsible for the overall profitability, administration, operations, and management of student housing facilities. This role ensures a safe, comfortable, and conducive living environment for residents while maintaining operational efficiency, service quality, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Management
Lead, plan, and oversee the day‑to‑day hostel operations including accommodation, housekeeping, security, maintenance and student services.
Develop and implement operational policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and service standards.
Drive initiatives to enhance student satisfaction and overall living experience.
Financial & Budget Management
Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for hostel operations.
Monitor expenses, optimize costs and maximize occupancy and revenue.
Ensure compliance with financial policies and controls.
Resident Services & Welfare
Establish and maintain strong relationships with students, parents and educational institutions.
Oversee student welfare programmes, counselling support and engagement activities.
Handle feedback, grievances and disciplinary matters in a professional manner.
Facilities & Safety Management
Ensure hostel facilities are well‑maintained, safe and compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Oversee security, health & safety, fire safety and emergency preparedness procedures.
Liaise with contractors, vendors and service providers for facility management and improvements.
Lead and mentor a team of hostel staff including administrative officers, housekeeping and security personnel.
Conduct performance reviews, training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Foster a service‑oriented and student‑focused culture.
Reporting & Compliance
Ensure adherence to organisational policies, government regulations and institutional guidelines.
Submit periodic reports on occupancy, student feedback, financial performance and operations to the management.
Assist in audits and inspections by relevant authorities.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Finance, Property Management, or related field.
Minimum 5 years in a management position within the student housing / hostel management industry.
Strong leadership, people management and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with strong service orientation.
Proven ability in financial management, budgeting and cost control.
Knowledge of health & safety, compliance and hostel operations best practices.
