BOM (Bill of Materials) Senior Engineer

Create and maintain multi-level Bills of Materials (BOM) for product assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components.

Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECN) / Engineering Change Orders (ECO) as they relate to BOM changes; ensure changes are updated in BOMs and communicated to affected departments.

Enter / update BOM and related item / master data into ERP / PLM systems.

Work with R&D / Design to understand component specs, alternatives, costing, and feasibility, including DFM / DFA implications.

Coordinate with Procurement to ensure components are available (address lead times, obsolescence).

Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by ensuring correct BOM setup at the start, facilitating BOM walk-throughs, BOM review and validation.

Conduct impact analyses for BOM changes (cost, lead time, manufacturability, inventory, supplier impact).

Perform periodic audits / reviews of BOM vs actual production, to detect discrepancies.

Assist with component lifecycle management (e.g. obsolescence, end-of-life, second sourcing).

Ensure compliance with regulatory / material standards (RoHS, REACH, etc.) when selecting components.

Liaise with Quality / Production to resolve BOM-related issues (defective parts, mismatches, obsolete parts etc.).

Maintain documentation, version control, revision history for BOMs.

Use Excel, data tools, and ERP reporting to monitor BOM health, metrics (e.g. BOM error rate, time to update changes, etc.).

Requirements and Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Mechatronics) or related field.

2-5 years (or more) relevant experience in BOM management, product engineering, or manufacturing engineering, preferably in electronics / EMS / contract manufacturing / high assembly industries.

Solid knowledge of ERP / PLM systems and experience working with bill of materials, master data, change control.

Understanding of manufacturing processes including PCB assembly, mechanical assemblies.

Strong attention to detail; good organizational skills.

Good communication skills, ability to liaise with multiple departments (Design, Production, Procurement, Quality).

Analytical mindset; ability to do impact / cost analysis.

Experience with BOM review, DFM / DFA considerations is an advantage.

Proficiency in MS Excel; experience with data tools / reporting.
