Overview
We are looking for the PORT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER to work in Sarawak - East Malaysia
The Port Development Engineer plays an important role in the planning, design and execution of port development projects. This position involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including port authorities, government agencies, consulting firms and construction teams. The Port Development Engineer manages the entire project lifecycle, from initial feasibility studies and concept design to project completion. The primary objective of this role is to enhance port infrastructure, optimize operations and ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed feasibility studies to assess the viability of port development projects
- Analyze technical, economic, environmental and social factors to determine project feasibility
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to establish project goals, objectives and requirements
- Develop project plans, schedules, budgets and resource allocations
- Prepare and review engineering designs and technical specifications for port development projects
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other design professionals
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards and best practices
- Conduct site surveys, soil investigations and environmental impact assessments
- Review and evaluate design proposals, engineering drawings and construction plans
- Oversee the implementation of port development projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets and quality standards
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and consultants to achieve project deliverables
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement appropriate measures
- Conduct regular site inspections and manage construction activities
- Supervise project teams, provide technical guidance, and resolve technical issues
- Liaise with port authorities, regulatory agencies, and local communities to obtain permits and approvals
- Collaborate with government bodies to ensure compliance with regulations and standards
- Engage stakeholders to address concerns, resolve conflicts and ensure project success
- Provide technical expertise and support during public consultations and communication engagements
- Stay updated with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and innovative port development practices
- Conduct research and analysis to identify potential areas for improvement and optimization
- Recommend and implement innovative solutions to enhance port functionality, efficiency and sustainability
Requirements
Degree or Master in Civil Engineering / Port engineeringMinimum 15 years relevant experience with 10 years proven experience in port developmentStrong knowledge of port infrastructure, marine engineering and terminal operationsProficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, GIS and structural analysis toolsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision making skillsEffective communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder managementAbility to work collaboratively in cross functional teamsFamiliar with relevant industry standards, regulations and environmental requirementsStrong project management abilities, including budgeting, scheduling and risk management#J-18808-Ljbffr
