FRONT-END ENGINEER (UI / UX) – SIMULATION & DATA VISUALISATION PLATFORM

We are looking for a Front-End Engineer with strong UI / UX design expertise to lead the development of engaging and user-friendly interfaces for a web-based simulation and emissions modelling platform. The role combines front-end engineering (building scalable, performant applications) with design sensibility (crafting intuitive user experiences). You’ll collaborate with product owners, data scientists, and backend developers to translate complex data and simulations into interactive, accessible, and visually compelling interfaces. This role requires both the ability to design clean, intuitive user experiences and the technical skills to implement them in production. OBJECTIVES : UI / UX Design : Design intuitive, user-centred interfaces for data-heavy simulation tools. Conduct wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. Create and maintain design systems, component libraries, and style guides. Front-End Engineering : Develop responsive and performant front-end components with frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular. Integrate RESTful APIs and dynamically render large datasets. Implement and optimize interactive data visualisations using D3.js, Chart.js, or similar libraries. QUALIFICATIONS : Strong experience with modern front-end frameworks (React preferred). Familiarity with data visualization libraries (D3.js, Chart.js, Recharts, etc.). Ability to handle responsive design and complex data-heavy UIs. Experience with design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch). Knowledge of Git, CI / CD pipelines, and testing frameworks. CONTRACT TYPE : Contract EXPERIENCE LEVEL : 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred. REPORTING : Directly to the project research analyst.
