To support the Finance Manager in overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate accounting, compliance with regulations, and timely financial reporting. The Assistant Finance Manager will manage day-to-day accounting functions, coordinate month-end closing, assist in audits, and contribute to process improvements to support business goals. This role also includes supervising Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, supporting tax and treasury matters, and participating in finance automation projects to enhance operational efficiency and control.
Job Purpose
The Assistant Finance Manager will be responsible for managing general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Supervise the Accounts Payable function, review payment proposals, ensure timely and accurate disbursements, and guide the team in resolving discrepancies.
- Monitor Accounts Receivable processes, ensure timely collections, review aging reports, and support the team in managing customer accounts and resolving issues.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, management accounts, and variance analyses to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure adherence to Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS / IFRS), Bursa Malaysia listing requirements, and other statutory obligations.
- Facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring audit readiness and timely resolution of audit queries.
- Support tax compliance and planning activities, liaise with tax consultants, and ensure timely submission of tax filings.
- Oversee treasury functions including cash flow forecasting, banking transactions, and fund transfers to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Analyse financial performance metrics and provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior finance staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
- Maintain an organized and up-to-date filing system for financial documents to ensure easy retrieval and reference.
- Drive process improvements and participate in finance automation projects to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with other departments on finance-related matters and support ad hoc projects as required
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, MICPA) is preferred.Strong knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and Bursa Malaysia listing requirements.Experience :
Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in accounting or finance.Proven experience in managing general ledger, financial reporting, and closing processes.Hands-on experience in overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.Familiarity with tax compliance and treasury operations.Experience in coordinating internal and external audits.Exposure to finance automation projects and process improvement initiatives.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in mentoring and guiding junior finance staff.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.#J-18808-Ljbffr
