Overview
To manage third-party liability claims, recoveries, and settlements on behalf of PTP. The role requires strong coordination with internal and external parties including insurance brokers, surveyors, adjusters, and legal teams. The Assistant Manager will lead investigations, prepare and justify claims, and ensure fair and accurate settlements in compliance with PTP’s internal policies and terminal conditions of business.
Responsibilities
- Accurate and timely receipt, processing, and settlement of claims.
- Protection of PTP’s financial and reputational interests.
- Ensures proper recovery from liable parties or insurance channels.
- Protect PTP’s interests by leading or coordinating investigations on third-party claims.
- Represent PTP in joint investigations with external parties.
- Establish and standardize claim investigation protocols.
- Maintain claim updates in the Claim Master List Record.
- Identify necessary documentation based on type and nature of claim.
- Recommend and execute claim settlements and recoveries.
- Ensure compliance with Terminal Conditions of Business and any related agreements.
- Justify and verify claim legitimacy in collaboration with insurance and legal teams.
Reporting & Settlement
Prepare formal claim reports for management approval and settlement proposals.Liaise with claimants to finalize settlements in line with management instructions.Ensure settlements are conducted with insurance or internal funds as applicable.Document Management & IQMS Compliance
Act as IQMS Document Controller for the Insurance Section.Ensure all documents are accurately updated, controlled, and compliant with IQMS standards.Follow procedures as stated in Document Control SOP (SOP-IMS-001-XXX).General Tasks & Support
Support other departmental assignments and initiatives as directed by the Head of Section.Provide internal advisory on liability claim matters when necessary.IT & Information Security
Ensure proper implementation of Information Security (IS) and IT policies for protection of data, assets, and intellectual property.Uphold compliance with current policy requirements and updates.Qualifications & Skills
Education
Degree in Insurance or Professional Qualification from Asia Institute of Insurance (AMII / CAII / AAII) or equivalent.Experience
Knowledge and experience in port activities, shipping lines and liability claims and recovery.Key Skills
