Mechanical Design Engineer (Automation)

A MNC market-leader in providing automation solutions for mulitple high-tech industries.

This role reuires a Mechanical Design Engineer to be responsible for the full lifecycle of mechanical component design, from concept through to production. You will be instrumental in developing reliable and effective automated systems by gathering requirements, creating prototypes, and performing thorough design analysis. This role requires expertise in 3D design software, machine troubleshooting, and a commitment to quality engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

Design and Development : Design and develop mechanical components from concept through production. This includes thorough design analysis and optimization, considering design for manufacturing and cost.

Technical Analysis and Problem Solving : Gather requirements, develop models, and create prototypes in a timely manner to increase project safety and success. Identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems

Project Management and Documentation : Plan and manage the mechanical design schedule. Complete design assembly drawings and detailed part drawings. Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) and check drawings.

Collaboration and Support : Interface with customers and functional owners on mechanical design issues. Be prepared to travel local and overseas.

Requirements

Education and Experience : A Degree holder in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent / related field is required. At least 3 years or more of working experience in the Automation field is required for this position.

Technical Skills : Experience with Sheet Metal and mechanical assembly processes is necessary, as well as a high level of understanding of machine design and fabrication. Requires Machine Troubleshooting skill. Proficiency in mechanical design using 3D Solidworks and AutoCad design software is essential. Knowledge of automation systems and tools (e.g., pneumatic, hydraulic, robotic, material handling) is highly valued. Knowledge of Design FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and Machine OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) is a plus.
