Senior Manager, License Management (Malaysia, India)

This role is responsible for software license compliance and governance activities across desktop, server and business applications. The candidate will be well versed in license compliance to ensure accurate and timely reporting to avoid legal and financial risks associated with non-compliance.

Strategy

  • Secure, rationalise and modernise our technology estate and on-demand data environment.
  • Strategize architectural design to fit future requirements, improve stability and security, and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Drive Tech Simplification and Automation.
  • Improve operation efficiency and excellence.

Business

  • Manage the Function’s preparedness for and response to audits, including reviewing the adequacy of management response to audit findings.
  • Manage external vendor software audits end-to-end and act as the primary liaison point.
  • Manage pro-active internal compliance reviews end-to-end. Obtain usage and entitlement data to establish position and drive clean-up activities.
  • Provide accurate and timely management summaries of progress to stakeholders as required.
  • Own and drive transition of operational ownership of license management activities between teams within the department; support and drive software clean-up activities across the organisation as required.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and provide leadership for license management program of works, processes, tools and collaboration across SCB.
  • Processes

  • Review Licensing Terms and Contractual Obligations.
  • Review High / Medium / Low Risk Business Applications and approve High Risk usage requests.
  • Prepare and generate License Compliance Report, Dashboard, Metrics with Data Analysis.
  • Maintain trending dashboard and Business Application reporting.
  • Produce accurate reports and metrics to facilitate business decisions and support operational activities.

  • Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with non-compliance, including potential legal and financial repercussions.
  • Stay updated on licensing laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance.
  • Raise requests to managers of requesters to acknowledge non-standard terms (risks) found in agreements.
  • Perform risk assessment and highlight to Risk & Control on license non-compliance for proper remediation ownership.
  • Governance

  • Responsibilities relating to direction, planning, structure, frameworks (processes and policies) and oversight. Assess the effectiveness of the Group's governance, oversight, and controls; oversee changes where necessary.
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework and requirements relevant to the role.
  • Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding high standards of ethics, regulatory and business conduct across Standard Chartered Bank, including compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters collaboratively and effectively.
  • Key Stakeholders

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align and deliver key objectives.
  • Organise work and manage a broad portfolio effectively.
  • Articulate requirements and importance of Software License Management and gain buy-in from senior stakeholders.
  • Manage change by adapting to new situations and requirements, keeping things under control during periods of rapid change.
  • Other responsibilities : embed standards for the Group’s brand and values in Malaysia / Technology & Architecture Team.
  • Our Ideal Candidates Should Have :

  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience; knowledge / experience with software licensing models and management.
  • Analytical skills; highly analytical with strong capabilities in complex license compliance reporting.
  • Practical experience managing a Software asset or license management program for a global firm.
  • Familiarity with software license management principles, license calculation methodologies, end-to-end license management process, discovery tools, and inventory management products.
  • Automation-related skill set (e.g., SQL, Power Query, DevOps, Java, SharePoint).
  • Reporting tool skill set (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Python, Microsoft Excel).
