What You'll Responsible For
- Project Management : The Project Manager oversees and manages several newbuilding projects and ensures the optimal service delivery to the client. He / She ensures that WSM Newbuilding Services is a trustworthy and value-adding partner to the client.
- Budget and Proposal responsibilities : Prepare Newbuilding Management Budgets and Proposals towards clients in coordination with the VP Newbuilding Services.
- Stakeholder Contact Person : Act as the direct contact person towards all stakeholders involved in the project, including Owners, Class, Flag, the Yard, and the site office team.
- Pre-construction phase : Review and analyze specifications and Makers list; support the client in decision making as required. Engage and conduct shipyard audits to ensure the yard is qualified and all quality systems are in place.
- Drawing Review and Approvals : Coordinate drawing approval for entrusted projects, ensuring drawings are professionally reviewed and approved in the client’s best interest and in accordance with best practice and rules and regulations.
- Site Office Management : Lead the selection process for site team members deployed to yards in coordination with the VP Newbuilding Services. Support the assembly of the site office team and define equipment needs.
- Stakeholder Communication : Communicate confidently and effectively with the design team and client, while providing feedback.
- Design Discrepancy Reporting : Inform the client promptly of any errors, discrepancies, or omissions identified within design drawings.
- Change Order Management : Oversee all change order costs and maintain accurate CO logs.
- Schedule Management : Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule on a weekly basis or as required by the client.
- Site Meeting Facilitation : Identify and address issues during job site meetings and distribute comprehensive minutes.
- Quality & Safety Assurance : Ensure and promote adherence to Quality and Occupational Health and Safety standards (ISO 9001 & 45001) among site personnel.
- Testing & Inspection Oversight : Ensure timely completion and tracking of all required testing and inspections.
- Progress Reporting : Generate comprehensive progress reports for the client, including proactive corrective or preventive actions to mitigate project issues or delays.
- Quality Control Enforcement : Maintain and enforce high construction standards and quality control in accordance with international standards.
- Financial Management : Prepare monthly cost forecasting summaries and cash flow reports; approve site office monthly expenses up to USD 1000.
- As-Built Documentation : Ensure continuous preparation of accurate "as-built" drawings by all trades and deliver final close-out documentation to the client.
- Deficiency Management : Prepare and expedite project deficiency lists for timely resolution.
- Site Operations Support : Conduct site office audits, attend meetings on site, and participate in sea trials or milestone events as required by the project.
- Sea trial support and Delivery preparation : Visit the yard regularly and prepare with the Site Manager the vessel for sea trials and delivery; ensure the client has all necessary information at hand prior to delivery meetings.
What Experience and Skills Required
Qualified Naval Architect or Engineer with shipyard work experience.Minimum of 5 years of work experience as a project manager in the newbuilding department within a shipping company or a ship management company.Knowledge of Class rules and relevant industry standards.Proactive, self-motivated team player with a strong sense of integrity.Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written in English.Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.Proficient computer skills in all Microsoft applications, with the ability to adapt to company-specific software.Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.Become a valued member of our team, where every day presents new opportunities for learning and development.
