Assistant Manager, Procurement

Overview

The Assistant Manager, Procurement is responsible for supporting and managing the procurement activities of raw materials, equipment, and services required for chemical manufacturing operations. This role ensures cost-effective sourcing, supplier performance management, and strict adherence to compliance and safety standards. The position requires strong expertise in contract management to safeguard company interests and optimize supplier agreements. Responsibilities

Lead and manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, vendor selection, negotiation, and purchase order management. Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure continuous supply, quality standards, and competitive pricing. Prepare, review, and administer procurement contracts, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate requirements. Monitor contract performance and resolve disputes or non-compliance issues in collaboration with legal and operational teams. Support strategic procurement planning to align with production requirements, cost optimization, and risk management strategies. Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, safety, and service, and recommend improvements or alternative sources. Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies, HSE standards, and industry regulations. Work closely with Finance, Operations, and other stakeholders to forecast procurement needs, budget expenditures, and achieve cost savings. Conduct market intelligence and benchmarking for raw materials, equipment, and services within the chemical industry. Assist the Senior Manager, Procurement in developing policies, processes, and systems to strengthen procurement governance. Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, or related field. Minimum 5–7 years of procurement experience, preferably in the chemical or petrochemical industry. Proven experience in contract management, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administering supplier / service contracts. Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills. Knowledge of procurement regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices. Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement tools. Strong understanding of chemical industry supply markets, safety requirements, and logistics. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Core Competencies
