VFX Artist (for Malaysians)

Our Client is a game development studio founded in 2008 in Malaysia. They focus on technology, with internal IPs and external co-development projects. They develop games across multiple platforms, primarily on PC using Unreal Engine. Their flagship IP, Eximius: Seize the Frontline , is a multiplayer 5v5 FPS/RTS hybrid game launched in 2021 on Steam and the Epic Games Store. They offer full-cycle development, consulting, and virtual production support, with a team of forty-five full-time developers and growing.

The Role:
They are seeking talented full-time Real-Time Visual Effects (VFX) Artists to join their expanding team. You will collaborate with their talented team to produce believable, platform-optimized, and stylistically consistent effects for various projects.
Role Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the team and stakeholders to deliver in-game VFX assets aligned with visual direction, technical specs, and project timelines.
- Create visually compelling VFX using 2D/3D particles, shaders, and post-processing effects for gameplay and cinematic purposes, ensuring optimization within technical constraints.
- Plan, conceptualize, and communicate VFX ideas during pre-production phases to stakeholders.
Team and Personal Responsibilities:
- Maintain good communication and collaboration skills across disciplines and project stages.
- Be open to learning and improving pipeline and production practices through iterative and agile methodologies.
- Stay updated on industry standards, trends, and software to achieve high graphical benchmarks.
Core Skills:
- Experience with Unreal Engine 4 and/or 5.
- Experience with Unreal Engine VFX development (Niagara).
- Experience with version control software (SVN, Git, Perforce, etc.).
- Familiarity with traditional and agile work environments.
- Strong observational skills for motion replication and manipulation.
- Ability to produce VFX storyboards for pre-production approval.
- Ability to assess, profile, and optimize VFX assets.
- Knowledge of the game development cycle.
- Proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
Supplementary Skills:
- Experience with 3D software (Maya, 3Ds Max, Blender).
- Experience with 2D software (After Effects, Premiere Pro).
- Shader creation (Node-based, C++).
- Experience with plug-in VFX software (Rayfire, Realflow, FumeFX).
- Project planning and estimation skills for VFX requirements.
- Experience with Unreal Engine in-game post-processing tools.
- Experience in 2D post-production VFX development.
- Scripting/programming skills (C++, C#).
- Experience across various hardware and platforms (Mobile, Console, PC).
