Overview

This role will develop Arup’s architecture practice in Malaysia by leveraging market knowledge, client contacts, and leadership experience across multiple businesses. It will focus on building a strategic Malaysian team aligned with regional collaboration, especially with Architecture and Cities Planning and Design (CPD) strategies in APAC and Southeast Asia. Experience in Transport – Rail and Science, Industry and Technology (SIT) projects is highly preferred. The role will also collaborate with business, market, portfolio, and service leaders to pursue projects that showcase Arup’s ability to influence and define sustainable development.
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture business development in Malaysia by building strong client relationships across key sectors. This involves proactively engaging with stakeholders, identifying opportunities, and securing new projects to strengthen Arup’s market presence.
- Represent Arup at senior levels locally and internationally through trusted client engagement. Act as a senior ambassador, building deep relationships and representing the firm at high‑level meetings and events.
- Strategically grow the Architecture business in Malaysia and SEA, providing technical leadership and mentoring. Position Arup’s services strategically, lead project development, and mentor team members to ensure consistent quality and innovation.
- Manage recruitment, performance, and development of the Architecture team, fostering motivation and morale. Includes hiring talent, conducting performance reviews, and creating a positive work environment through mentoring and team‑building activities.
- Oversee major projects, ensuring high‑quality architectural design and successful execution. Lead design efforts, maintain accuracy and quality, and ensure that project goals are met within budget and timeline constraints.
Qualifications
Registered Architect in Malaysia with strong design, project management, and technical software skills (Revit / CAD).Proven leadership in growing architecture teams and practices, with solid client and business development experience.Sector experience in Energy and Water or Science and Technology projects, plus valuable networks in Malaysia’s infrastructure markets.Brings deep expertise in complex architecture, infrastructure integration, and city‑shaping projects, with strong design skills and a commitment to continuous professional development and knowledge sharing.Demonstrates strong business development capabilities, with proven success in winning work, bid writing, and maintaining a high‑level technical network across key decision‑makers.Benefits
