Group HR Director – Southeast Asia (Based in Malaysia)
Location : Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (with frequent travel across Southeast Asia), or based in Myanmar. The privately held FMCG group is one of the largest and most influential players in its home market, with a growing footprint across Southeast Asia and ambitions to expand into China. Headquartered in Singapore, the group operates across the full value chain, including manufacturing, procurement, OEM production, distribution, and marketing. The business is undergoing regional transformation, centralizing operations, expanding into new markets, and investing in talent, systems, and leadership. The group seeks a Group HR Director to lead and elevate the HR function across Southeast Asia. This is a senior, high-impact role shaping the people strategy, unifying HR practices across borders, and enabling the group’s next phase of growth.
What You’ll Do
- Reassess and redesign the HR operating model to support regional expansion and organizational maturity.
- Build and lead a cohesive HR team across the region, ensuring alignment, capability development, and clear accountability.
- Overhaul and implement HR policies, systems, and processes to meet international standards while remaining locally relevant.
- Lead strategic HR initiatives including workforce planning, succession management, and leadership development.
- Strengthen the company’s employer brand and employee value proposition across internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner with business leaders to embed a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and practices across all operating markets, focusing on Malaysia and Myanmar.
- Act as a change agent to rally teams, improve morale, and drive HR execution across all business units.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership, including a visionary GCEO, to shape the company’s people agenda across Southeast Asia.
Who You Are
Seasoned HR leader with experience in FMCG or other fast-paced industries.Proven track record in leading regional HR teams; exposure to Myanmar is a strong advantage.Proficiency in Mandarin is essential, given the communication preferences of senior leadership.Well-versed in employment policies in Malaysia and Myanmar, and confident navigating complex regulatory environments.Passionate about learning & development, talent growth, and building high-performing teams.Collaborative and structured, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders around a unified HR vision.Willing to travel frequently (up to 50%) across Southeast Asia, especially Myanmar.Seniority level
