Job Purpose
As a Solar Project Engineer based in Melaka, Penang or Ipoh, you will be responsible for designing, analysing, and overseeing the implementation of solar PV systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Sales Team to develop detailed solar PV system designs that meet client requirements, local codes, and industry standards.
- Supervise and review designs of PV systems, including electrical, structural, mechanical, and system components.
- Optimise system layout for maximum energy production and cost‑effectiveness.
- Perform solar resource assessments to determine energy generation potential.
- Conduct shading analysis and assess site suitability for solar installations.
- Develop bill of materials (BOM) for projects.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and products for improved performance.
- Use modelling software to predict system performance, energy output, and financial returns.
- Analyse data to estimate payback periods and return on investment (ROI).
- Prepare and submit permit applications, ensuring compliance with local regulations and utility requirements.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities to secure necessary approvals.
- Implement quality control procedures for solar installations.
- Conduct inspections to ensure system integrity and safety standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to installation teams during system setup.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Create and maintain accurate project documentation, including schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.
- Monitor system performance to ensure optimal operation before handover to clients.
- Promote and adhere to safety protocols, ensuring all installations meet safety requirements.
- Liaise with authorities such as SEDA, ST, TNB, consulting firms, and local authorities on licensing matters.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for every project to ensure on‑schedule delivery.
- Provide technical support for sales, proposals, and during client meetings.
- Perform any other function assigned by Management.
Job Specification
Candidates should possess a Diploma / Advanced Diploma, professional certificates, or equivalent in engineering or a related field.Fresh graduates or anyone looking to kick‑start a career in the renewable energy industry are welcomed.Technical / Functional Skills
Strong time‑management skills, able to prioritise and meet critical deadlines.Proficiency in solar design software and simulation tools is an added advantage.Knowledge of electrical systems and codes.Proficiency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Melayu; Mandarin is an added advantage.Good presentation and writing skills.Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.Familiarity with relevant regulations and permitting processes.Knowledge of solar PV technology and energy systems is a plus.Personal Skills
