Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Stakeholder Communications plays a strategic leadership role in driving Sime Darby Property’s corporate communications agenda. This includes managing and integrating external communications, internal communications, and awards & projects to strengthen the company’s reputation and stakeholder trust.
The incumbent will lead a team covering media and public relations, internal communications, awards management, and crisis communications, while serving as a key deputy to the Head of Group Corporate Communications. This role requires a balance of strategic foresight, hands-on execution, and strong stakeholder management across all levels of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities :
External Communications (Media & Public Relations)
- Oversee the creation and distribution of press releases, media statements, thought leadership articles, and advertorials.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media stakeholders.
- Plan and manage media engagements, interviews, roundtables, and press conferences involving senior management.
- Strategically communicate corporate messages to enhance the company’s reputation and visibility.
- Monitor and analyse media coverage to evaluate performance, sentiment, and key message delivery with agency support.
- Provide communications counsel to business units and senior leaders to ensure consistency of messaging across platforms.
Internal Communications & Content
Lead the internal communications function, overseeing corporate-wide announcements, leadership messages, internal campaigns, and Group-wide townhalls.Manage internal platforms such as SharePoint and email channels to ensure effective information flow.Ensure all communications reflect a consistent brand tone : from lifestyle features to corporate disclosures.Lead the development of high-impact messaging for senior leaders, speeches, op-eds, and key events.Uphold editorial quality and ensure all outputs align with the company’s Purpose and brand values.Coordinate festive communications and corporate décor at Head Office to promote employee engagement.Crisis Communications
Develop, update, and implement crisis communication strategies to protect the company’s reputation.Act as a key point of contact during crises, providing timely and effective communication to stakeholders.Maintain and regularly review crisis communication documents and tools.Collaborate closely with relevant departments and functions including Legal, Risk, Operations, and agency partners to ensure alignment during high-risk incidentsAwards & Projects Management
Manage the full process of corporate and industry award submissions — from strategy, content curation, and approvals to submission and result tracking.Coordinate award gala participation, winners’ packages, and related publicity with internal and external stakeholders.Oversee corporate projects such as Annual Report content coordination, leadership messages, and key publication deliverables.Agency & Stakeholder Management
Lead and guide appointed agencies as an extension of the communications function.Ensure delivery of high-quality work by agencies, aligned with strategic corporate objectives.Collaborate with agencies to develop and execute strategic communication plans.Manage key internal relationships with senior management, relevant departments and teams to ensure message alignment.Strategic Vision and Continuous Improvement
Continuously review and refine communication workflows, templates, and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.Provide strategic insights and recommendations to strengthen corporate narrative and stakeholder trust.Stay updated on industry trends, media developments, and best practices to ensure communications remain relevant and impactful.Mentor and develop team members to build a strong pipeline of communications talent.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Mass Communications, or related fields.Minimum 10–12 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, public relations, or stakeholder engagement, preferably in a large listed or multinational organisation.Strong command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (additional languages an advantage).Proven track record in strategic communications planning, media relations, and stakeholder management.Demonstrated experience in crisis management, internal communications leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.Experience managing agencies and working closely with C-suite executives.Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and a continuous improvement mindset.Skills
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills across corporate and creative formats.Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Analytical thinker with strong presentation and planning skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital communication tools.Competencies
