Senior Communications Manager
Yayasan Hasanah is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Senior Communications Manager to drive communications for a flagship education project. The role focuses on strategy development, media and agency coordination, and crafting narratives that highlight the project’s success and impact.
About the Education Project
This is a national learning recovery initiative carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, spanning both primary and secondary schools. It focuses on helping struggling students catch up, close education gaps, and unlock their fullest potential. At its heart, the project isn’t just about test scores — it’s about shaping futures. Storytelling will play a central role : bringing to life the journeys of students and communities, inspiring hope, and rallying wider support from every layer of society.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a communications strategy tailored to the education project.
- Shape messaging frameworks to highlight project milestones, outcomes, and success stories.
- Support visibility opportunities identified by Hasanah’s Communications leadership.
- Stay attuned to current events, public sentiment, and conversations in the media to connect our storytelling with what’s relevant and timely.
- Maintain working relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets.
- Draft and proofread press releases, speeches, op-eds, and media responses.
- Coordinate interviews and media opportunities in collaboration with agencies.
- Direct and manage PR, creative, and digital agencies to ensure timely, high-quality delivery of communication assets.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and reporting for communications deliverables.
- Align messaging and communications materials with project partners and implementing agencies.
- Surface stories from project data, field visits, and case studies by the programme team, and shape these into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Ensure all publicity and advocacy materials meet Hasanah’s standards for tone, clarity, and impact.
- Track media coverage, social engagement, and overall communications performance.
- Provide regular updates and reports on communications outcomes and lessons learned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or related field.Minimum 5–7 years of professional experience in communications, PR, or media.Proven experience in strategic communications planning and agency management.Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills in both Bahasa Malaysia and English .Familiarity with social media platforms, trends, and formats.Ability to translate data and field insights by the programme team into impactful stories that resonates with target audience.Self-starter, resourceful, with the ability to lead initiatives as well as collaborate effectively within a team.Willingness to travel across Malaysia (1–2x per month).Background in education or the impact / philanthropic sector is an advantage.If you are searching for a challenging and rewarding career with training opportunities, please click the Apply Button now.
