The Group Director of People and Operational Excellence is a pivotal strategic leadership role designed to architect and drive a culture of high performance and continuous improvement across the entire group. This position is responsible for seamlessly integrating the human capital and corporate services functions to optimize organizational effectiveness, elevate the employee experience, and ensure operational rigor. Leading a combined department for a workforce of 700 across 8 diverse subsidiaries, this role will leverage data-driven methodologies to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and directly contribute to the company's strategic growth and profitability.
Overview
The Group Director of People and Operational Excellence leads integrated HR and Corporate Services to achieve operational excellence, support business goals, and drive a high-performance culture across multiple subsidiaries.
Responsibilities
A) Integrated Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence.
- Develop and execute integrated strategies for HR and Corporate Services that are specifically designed to achieve operational excellence and support business goals.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging methodologies such as Lean to identify and eliminate inefficiencies across people and operational processes.
KPI : Achieve a 90% satisfaction rate from the Group CEO and subsidiary heads on strategic partnership and delivery. Identify and deliver at least three major process improvements annually, resulting in a 10% efficiency gain or cost saving.
B) Talent & Organizational Development for a High-Performance Culture
Oversee end-to-end talent management, ensuring the acquisition, development, and retention of a workforce capable of driving and sustaining operational excellence.Design and implement targeted learning and development programs that build capabilities in process management, problem-solving, and leadership.KPI : Reduce time-to-fill for critical roles by 20% and achieve 80% succession coverage for key positions. Increase internal promotion rate by 10%.
C) Employee Experience & Engagement
Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture that empowers employees to excel and contribute to process improvement.Integrate feedback mechanisms to continuously refine the employee lifecycle, ensuring it is efficient, engaging, and supportive of productivity.KPI : Attain an overall employee engagement score of 85% or higher.
D) Corporate Services & Operational Infrastructure
Provide strategic oversight for all building facilities and retail spaces, ensuring they are optimized for safety, efficiency, and productivity.Lead the planning and execution of all retail boutique expansions and refurbishments, applying rigorous project and budget management to ensure timely, on-budget delivery that enhances brand value and operational flow.KPI : Complete 95% of facilities and refurbishment projects on time and within budget; achieve 100% compliance on safety audits.
E) Performance Metrics, Analytics & Reporting
Develop and monitor a comprehensive set of KPIs for both people and operational functions, creating a data-driven framework for accountability and decision-making.Implement systems to track and report on operational excellence initiatives, clearly linking them to business outcomes like cost savings, productivity gains, and employee retention.KPI : Deliver quarterly performance dashboards with a clear analysis of trends, root causes, and improvement actions.
F) Financial, Vendor & Process Management
Manage the consolidated budgets for HR and Corporate Services with a focus on financial efficiency and demonstrable return on investment.Optimize vendor and procurement strategies, streamlining processes to reduce cycle times and enhance service quality.KPI : Maintain a consolidated budget variance of less than 5%. Reduce procurement cycle time by 15% and achieve 5% cost savings in key vendor contracts.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field; or advanced certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP,) is highly preferred.Minimum of 12-15 years of progressive leadership experience, with a proven track record of managing HR and Operations / Corporate Services with a focus on process improvement and operational excellence.Essential experience in a multi-site, multi-subsidiary environment, ideally within retail, manufacturing, or fast-moving consumer goods.Demonstrated experience in applying continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean) to both human and operational systems.Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and delivering cost-saving initiatives.Competencies / Knowledge / Skills
