Overview
This position will be responsible to lead and manage EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) and maintenance function of the facilities and equipment. This role needs to ensure the site can fully meet the regulatory and sustainability goals from both corporate and local authorities while maintaining all the equipment, facilities and infrastructure in tip top condition.
Responsibilities
- Leading EHS HPT to comply to corporate and local authorities’ requirements
- Site representative for regulatory inspections (e.g., JKKP, DOE, BOMBA)
- Promote proactive safety culture
- Lead maintenance team to ensure routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all the infrastructure, machines, building systems and utilities
- Monitor and report process performance, safety KPIs and EHS compliance metrics to leaders and corporate
- Develop and improve maintenance KPIs (e.g., equipment downtime, OEE, MTTR, MTBF)
- Ensure spare parts availability and manage suppliers and service contractors
- Create factory machine routings and lead maintenance team for high equipment efficiency and utilization
- Suggest change in working condition and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department
- Analyze and resolve EHS compliances issues, facilities and equipment problems
- Provide technical and operational recommendations in meeting manufacturing goals, minimizing business interruption risk due to noncompliance, and maintaining a safe, incident-free workplace
- Support proper startup, permitting, and training for new factories / facilities
- Drive and implement continuous improvement projects and carbon reduction projects
- Conduct safety audits and genba
- Lead risk assessments, safety audits, incident investigations, and CAPA processes
- Coach, train, and direct technicians and operators on safety standards and requirements
- Benchmark industry best practices and leverage those concepts into process and equipment projects
- Design and update plant layouts in accordance with safety requirements
- Design new jigs & fixtures incorporating appropriate safety features
- Develop team members
Qualifications
Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Professional Degree, in Engineering (Industrial), Engineering (Mechanical), Engineering (Mechatronic / Electromechanical), Engineering (Environmental) or equivalent.Minimum 8 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.Preferable proficiency in AUTOCAD or InventorProven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence change in safety culture and environmental performanceStrong knowledge of corporate EHS management systems and regulatory frameworksCertified competent person or safety officer will be an added advantageFamiliar with local legal and authorities’ requirements, lean implementation and problem solving toolsWell-versed in ISO14001, ISO45001 and OSHA is a plusPossesses strong leadership, organizing and analytical abilityInterface with outside contractors or vendors as needed to obtain the best tools, parts, and service for the best costLead the EHS team to meet corporate and authorities, EHS requirements and drive site-level implementation of safety and environmental improvement initiativesLead maintenance team to minimize unplanned downtimeWork with vendors and local authorities to meet all EHS-related compliancesHard-working, teamwork and strong communication skillsExcellent verbal and written communication in Bahasa Malaysia & EnglishJob details
