Responsibilities

• Manage the evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of testing procedures, strategies, systems, components, and modifications.
• Act as an advisor to the test engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations and serve as a liaison to other engineering functions.
• Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Direct and / or coordinate electronic engineering and / or technical personnel in fabrication and design of testing and test control apparatus and equipment, or software and systems testing.
• Direct and coordinate electronic engineering activities concerning development, procurement, installation and calibration of instruments, equipment and control devices required to test, telemeter and record test data.
• Define conditions under which tests are conducted and sequence and phases of test operations.
• Interface and confer with scientific, engineering and technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data, data interpretation or coding issues.
• Evaluate and interpret test data and prepare technical reports for use by electronic or software engineering and management personnel.
• Develop or use computer software and hardware to conduct tests on electronic products and systems or software.
• Train and instruct floor support, test technicians and test operators on test hardware and / or software, as well as proper problem‑solving techniques.
• Resolve test yield problems by performing evaluation of root causes, developing and coordinating corrective action measures and monitoring improvements.
• Coordinate all activities and all testers during each testing phase of a project or program.
• Maintain awareness of testing alternatives at a level where they can be analyzed and the most effective testing strategy selected and agreed.
• Assess and advise on the practicality of testing process alternatives.
• Identify improvements to the process and assist in their implementation.
• Ensure that any risks associated with the agreed test strategy and the system test plan are clearly documented and described to the clients / users and colleagues.
• Manage all risks associated with the testing and take preventative action when any risks become unacceptable.
• Plan, arrange and control meetings, workshops and relations with client / user staff during test planning and throughout subsequent development and testing activities.
