Overview
Administer radiotherapy treatments according to the Consultant Clinical Oncologist’s plan using a linear accelerator. Ensure correct patient positioning and radiation dose delivery. Monitor and report any equipment issues immediately. Maintain cleanliness of treatment rooms, accessories, and linens. Organize daily treatment schedules and coordinate doctor reviews and planning sessions. Assist with simulation and treatment planning for new patients, including imaging and dose calculations. Create immobilization devices like thermoplastic masks for precise treatment. Follow all safety regulations related to radiation use to protect patients, staff, and the public. Keep accurate treatment records for each patient. Communicate clearly and kindly with patients and their families. Explain treatment procedures and pass on any care instructions from the oncologist. Support non-ambulatory patients as needed. Assist in specialized radiotherapy procedures. Handle basic administrative tasks (e.g., photocopying treatment and simulation sheets). Securely shut down treatment machines at the end of the day. Maintain confidentiality of patient records. Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors or management.
