Collas Crill is recruiting for a Human Resources Manager to provide support to Partners, fee earners and business services teams in the Cayman Islands office. The business is fast‑paced, collaborative and ambitious, and this role is well‑suited to an experienced HR professional who is self‑motivated, has high standards, and excels working in a busy and ever‑changing environment. We expect candidates to have experience of local employment law and legislation, and they will ideally have worked in a law firm. Although the successful applicant will be the standalone HR person in the Cayman office, they will have the support of the wider HR team who are based in the Channel Islands.
Key Responsibilities and General Duties
- Provide expert advice, guidance and coaching to managers in all aspects of HR;
- Be the main contact for the end‑to‑end HR experience for the assigned jurisdictions / practice areas;
- Adhere to and implement policies, procedures and processes so that they are clear, relevant and promote the firm's culture and values and make recommendations as appropriate;
- Oversee employment relations issues;
- Management of the firm's immigration processes;
- Work closely with the HR team to contribute to and lead HR projects;
- Advising and guiding on all things people related, in particular benefits, policies, people systems and procedures;
- Managing the seamless administration of the employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance, absence, pay, and leavers;
- Be the lead for assigned investigation, disciplinary, capability and grievance casework, ensuring legislation, policy and best practice are followed;
- Manage the Caribbean Immigration process; completing annual Business Staffing Plan updates, completing new work permit applications and managing the renewal process;
- Adhering to and assisting in the drafting and implementation of policies, procedures and processes so that they are clear, relevant and promote the firm's culture and values, and make recommendations as appropriate;
- Using the career development and promotion frameworks to effectively manage succession and workforce planning in conjunction with the Global Practice Head(s);
- Owning and developing expertise of the core people systems (IT) in order to be an advocate and trainer of them;
- Work closely with the rest of the HR team to ensure that a seamless service is provided to partners and employees across the whole group;
- Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the role;
- Keep up to date with developments in employment legislation and human resources best practice, knowledge sharing within the team to ensure continuous development and improvement in the service offered;
- Ensure the Caribbean Operational Licenses, Practicing Certificates and Notary renewals are kept up to date;
- Training of new staff as required;
- Demonstrate and live the culture and values of the firm.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
We are looking to recruit a Caymanian candidate who has :
Experience gained in a law firm or professional services environment;Knowledgeable in Cayman Islands Labor Law;Highly organised;Able to work independently, with multiple priorities and within a team to achieve results;Able to maintain confidentiality – diplomacy and discretion;Experience of working with Cayman Islands Immigration Services;Experience working with Senior Managers and Directors.We are ideally seeking a candidate with :
