Overview
Control and Instrumentation Engineer (Shah Alam / Prai) – Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Reports to Regional C&I Manager.
Responsibilities
- Leadership in EH&S performance
- Compliance with all necessary safety training and procedures in AP standards and practices.
- Conduct site assessments / audits as required in BSP.
- Engage in incidents reviews with Operations and provide technical support needed in RCA; work with Operation / Maintenance team on corrective action implementation.
- Reliability Focus : Support Central Maintenance to assess causes of damage and enable good fault code reporting into SAP; use data to mine for reliability improvement projects to prevent repetitive or similar failure.
- Support OPEX on escalated issues on equipment under-performed from baseline reliability
- Update or revise or implement work processes or measurement tests in addition to routine PMs to detect failure signs early.
- Support reliability reviews of new plants when initiated by GEM or OPEX
- Review and recommend plant spare parts for control system, instrumentation and analyzers with Operational and Maintenance teams; collaborate with Material Management on stock levels.
- Share knowledge and skills within the Asia team; participate in MATASA program for Maintenance team.
- Participate in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and FMEA with operation and maintenance teams
- Productivity focus : Support Central Maintenance on cost reduction, review Major Tasks, assess technical risk, and provide risk management for deferrable / cancellable tasks.
- Increase visibility on productivity projects; act as Technical Lead engineer for Plant O&M Productivity Projects.
- OTS Technical Lead on Projects to evaluate replicable opportunities in other plants or replicate opportunities from other regions to Asia plants.
- Deliver operational excellence : provide cost effective technical solutions for projects.
- Attend TAR planning meetings to ensure Major Tasks have proper Job Pack, materials, tools, and resources; participate in major TAR to support on-site execution and ensure Central Maintenance coaching on complex tasks as part of OJT development.
- Identify and qualify repair and service shops for C&I in critical areas of critical plants.
- Reduce negative impact of non-conformance of plant operation; participate in CONC / RCA process and provide timely feedback.
- Manage and participate in Operation / GEM feedback meetings; maintain feedback issues log.
- Participate in startup issue meetings to identify and remedy new plant equipment issues and systemic issues.
- Technical escalation and training provider : address plant emergency issues and help restore operations; develop short-term solutions and escalate to Global team as needed.
- Lead technical reviews for chronic / systemic issues and ensure implementation with Central Maintenance and Plant O&M.
- Support Operations on MI SIS actions to reduce overdue MI SIS activities.
- Support plant control system and field instrument functional and serviceability succession plan for obsolete / legacy systems; review with Operations on technical risk and recommendations.
- OTS engineer interprets standards and supports global team in applying engineered solutions in plant projects or corrective actions.
- Provide necessary technical training to the O&M team as required.
Requirements
Degree / Master's in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, Computer or Chemical Engineering.Min. 6 years in gas, petrochemical, chemical or related industry in operations and / or engineering activities.Min. 3 years in process controls, instrumentation and / or process engineering.Programming skills in Siemens PLC and / or ABB DCS Control System.Willing to travel in Asia for plant turnaround support (50% of the time).Willing to be on standby 24 / 7 to support field operations (2nd level support) and work extra hours, weekend or public holidays when necessary.Employment details
