Overview
The Assistant Finance Manager will support the Director of Finance in developing the quality of the Finance function within the hotel, provide support and technical expertise to the other members of the team, and be responsible for accounting and financial requirements in an environment of tight control, with the aim of maximizing value.
Location : Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi, Jalan Telaga Langkawi Langkawi 7000.
Responsibilities
- Financial Accounting & Control : Best practice financial accounting processes in a robust control environment; manage the accounting records and financial reports of the hotel, ensuring compliance with company, owner, statutory and fiscal requirements and timetables; include accounts for Hilton International’s branch or subsidiary where applicable; ensure the balance sheet fairly reflects assets and liabilities with regular reconciliations; ensure compliance with the management agreement with Hilton International and any Owner / Lease agreement; maintain internal controls over assets, liabilities, revenue and costs in line with policy; manage the hotel’s assets, liabilities, income and expenditure for Operator and Owner; ensure legal and tax compliance and adequate insurance cover; manage pension scheme where applicable; ensure valid permits and licenses for matters such as importation, currency transfers and hotel operations; update leases and contracts affecting financial status; liaise with Internal and External Audit to ensure an effective in-hotel audit program; emphasize revenue capture with monthly control checklists and interim self-audits; develop best practices to improve financial reporting and control.
- Management Reporting : Develop high quality management information and performance measurement that is timely and accurate; implement reporting with benchmarking, KPIs and balanced scorecard; ensure corporate reporting is timely, accurate and internally consistent, with reconciliations to the trial balance and documented proofs of reconciliations.
- Business Support : Provide financial and commercial support to the Director of Finance and hotel team, interpret financial data, review management information, propose value-added initiatives, and support business development initiatives and major pricing decisions.
- Information Technology & Systems : Support implementation of financial systems, ensure proper use and maintenance of systems, protect data integrity, drive error prevention at the source, and continually develop system usage for better reporting and efficiency.
- Investment : Utilize project evaluation techniques to direct investments that optimize returns; prepare annual capital plan and oversee funding and approvals; review and prepare AFE with sound commercial judgment; perform post-investment audits and ensure actions to maximize returns; ensure compliance with Hilton capital policy and be involved in financials for new developments and acquisitions where applicable.
- Looking Ahead : Manage budgeting process and ensure regular, detailed forecasting; collaborate with colleagues to ensure clear communication on future trends.
- Cash & Working Capital : Optimize cash position, minimize interest expense, and manage working capital; reconcile all bank accounts weekly and maintain high standards of cash control; establish credit control policies with Director of Finance; manage accounts receivable and maintain reserves for bad debts.
Qualifications
Local Malaysian citizen.University degree, preferably in Commerce, Accounting & Management or other Accounting qualification.Finance / Accounting major and certified (e.g., ACCA / CPA).At least 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in a managerial operational accounting role.Pre-opening experience in a resort environment is ideal.Fluent in English and Bahasa, both spoken and written.Proficient in systems : OnQ, Check SCM, SUN, OPERA / OnQPMS, MICROS, HRLINK.Good communication and analytical skills.Flexible with working hours, especially at month and year-end.What it’s like to work for Hilton
