Senior Engineer Virtualization – Infineon Technologies

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Virtualization Engineer to join our global team. As a Virtualization Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our virtualization infrastructure based on Proxmox VE and VMware vSphere Hypervisor. You will work closely with our IT team to ensure the smooth operation of our virtualized environment, troubleshoot issues, and implement new features and technologies.

Responsibilities

Implement, and maintain virtual clusters, including node configuration, storage setup, and network configuration (Proxmox VE / VMware)
Create and manage virtual machines, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
Monitor and troubleshoot virtual clusters, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner
Collaborate with the global IT team to ensure seamless integration of virtualization with other infrastructure components
Stay up to date with the latest virtualization features, best practices, and apply this knowledge to improve our virtualization infrastructure services
Participate in on-call rotation for 24 / 7 support of our global virtualization infrastructure
Document virtual infrastructure configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field

1-2 years of experience with Proxmox VE or similar virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware vSphere, KVM)

Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and command-line interfaces

Experience with virtual machine management, including creation, configuration, and troubleshooting

Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP / IP, DNS, and DHCP, Routing

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

Nice to Have

Experience with automation tools / languages such as Ansible, Python, JavaScript or Rundeck

Experience with CentOS, Debian or other Linux derivatives

Experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Grafana, Aria Operations, etc.

Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Linux Container (LXC)

Familiarity with IT service management frameworks such as ITIL
