About the Role
This role is responsible for establishing Shariah risk methodologies and policies, overseeing risk assessments, advising business units on Shariah risk matters, promoting risk awareness, and ensuring robust risk reporting to governance bodies including the Shariah Committee and regulators.
What will you do :
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the
Shariah Risk Management Policy (SRMP)
in alignment with the Bank's Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), Operational Risk Policy and
Shariah Governance Framework (SGF)
issued by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).
Ensure Shariah risk policies, procedures, and controls are embedded across business and support functions.Support in conducting of Operational Risk related meetings.Identify, assess, and monitor Shariah non-compliance risks across all banking operations, products, and services.Conduct periodic Shariah risk assessments and gap analyses to ensure compliance with Shariah principles and regulatory expectations.Prepare and submit Shariah risk reports to the Operational Risk team, Shariah Committee, and relevant governance bodies.Ensure timely escalation of material Shariah risk issues to the Head of Operational Risk and Shariah Committee.Manage, monitor, review and facilitate Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and Branch Risk Control Self-Assessment (BRCSA).Work with business units / support units in identifying relevant Key Risk Indicators (KRI).Establish and maintain an operational risk / loss event database.Prepare detail incident reports and propose mitigation controls.Management reporting of the Operational Risk profile of the bank.Review Policies and Process Documents.Facilitate OR Scenario Analysis & Assessment.Investigate and report Shariah non-compliance incidents, including root cause analysis and lessons learned.Provide advisory support to business units onShariah risk mitigation strategies
and corrective action plans.
Perform as independent party from the business line in monitoring and controlling risk of product development process and operational readiness.Provide guidance and support to Product Developer (PD) in maintaining master list of products and services in the bank.Ensure the products and services has met all the requirement met prior launching offering a new products or services.Participate inShariah review and testing
of new products, systems, and processes to ensure Shariah compliance from inception to implementation.
Coordinate and deliver Shariah risk awareness programs and training sessions bank-wide.Promote a culture of Shariah compliance and risk awareness among staff through structured learning and communication initiatives.Skills, certifications and experience you possess :
Bachelor's Degree in Finance / Accountancy / Banking or equivalent.Possess at least 5 years' experience in the field of Shariah Risk and Operational Risk.Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.Proficient in English and MS Excel.Detail-oriented, multi-tasker, team player, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
