Design and direct Micron Malaysia Employee Relations strategies to influence organizational culture in line with company values of integrity, respect and fairness, ensuring team engagement and a safe work environment. Develop partnerships with key stakeholders to support ER programs. Lead a team of ER professionals to pursue ER operations excellence through agile and efficient case management in accordance with global investigation and consultation procedures, maintaining quality standards. Drive timely case resolutions, escalate as needed, ensure effective communication and thorough documentation. Develop proactive programs to address recurring issues and improve awareness and readiness. Guide and influence actions on sensitive employment activities to ensure success, compliance and alignment with global standards. Lead the ER team to plan, implement and monitor activities and provide appropriate aftercare where applicable. Provide ER expertise, consultation and marketplace insights regarding the labor environment in Malaysia, particularly in Penang and Johor, including benchmarking industry best practices for HR policies, early warning systems for labor risks and non-compliance, and monitoring trends in labor standards and regulations for proactive action. Promote understanding and compliance with local labor laws and international labor standards. Support and promote adoption of Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) labor standards. Identify risks, partner with cross-functional teams to address changes in requirements, and support labor audits or inspections with thorough action on findings. Lead labor union relations activities in the country. Stay informed about local trends, industry issues, union activities and government priorities to mitigate risk. Represent the company in labor disputes and provide support to the legal team as needed. Influence and support people leaders in fostering a positive, respectful and lawful workplace. Provide scheduled training and coaching on ER topics such as harassment, discrimination and underperformance, and respond to emerging needs with ad hoc guidance. Manage exit surveys and conduct exit interviews. Analyze turnover data to identify trends and risk areas related to ER, and collaborate with People Organization and business leaders to support retention and engagement initiatives. Additional responsibilities may include people management and development, data analysis and reporting, corporate activities, crisis management and other duties as assigned. Requirements
Permanent work location in Batu Kawan, Penang, with flexibility to travel on short notice to Muar, Johor and Putrajaya. Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in Employee Relations, preferably in manufacturing or technology. Minimum 6 years of experience leading a team of Employee Relations professionals. Strong understanding of Malaysian labor law and practices, global labor standards; familiarity with Asia region employment laws is advantageous; proficient in managing employment documents. Established connections with the labor and industrial relations departments in Penang and / or Johor. Experience in industrial relations in Penang and / or Johor with union-related matters and a proven track record in negotiations with unions. Attention to detail, a strong sense of urgency, independent decision making, and high standards of compliance and quality. Excellent influencing, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with proficiency in English and Malay. Proficiency in other Asian languages is advantageous. About Micron Technology
