Overview
Role Summary : Develops, implements, and maintains technical quality assurance, control systems and tactical activities to meet Customer, Supplier, and Company quality goals and objectives. Responsible for either a site or corporate Quality Management System implementation and effectiveness, depending on the scope of the position. Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of company products. Participates in the reviewing of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations. Assists product support areas in gathering and analyzing data. Is responsible for all site quality functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing all aspects of a site Quality organization and function : Product, Customer, and Supplier Quality.
- Site Management Representative for ISO 9001 and any other external quality registrations.
- Owns Management Review process, including adhering to Global Quality governance system.
- Partner with site operations team and corporate functions to set & meet quality objectives.
- Resource (Personnel & equipment) quality teams at each site to support the company objectives.
- Own, resource and train an effective internal audit team to drive business process compliance and effectiveness to meet / exceed UCT and Customer QMS assessment goals & objectives
- Establish and maintain customer relationships, manage customer data, lead and ensure closure on customer issues. Present to Customers on quality topics as needed.
- Establish and maintain supplier relationships, provide supplier quality data feedback, develop supplier capability and ensure closure on supplier issues.
- Responsible for outgoing product quality – working with operations teams to build quality in and prevent errors from escaping. Use quality tools such as Zero Quality program, Build Process Optimization, and cost of quality to reduce and prevent defects.
- Lead organization in critical thinking, in the understanding and application of quality tools, disciplines and methods to develop organizational effectiveness, to improve operational results, to continually improve team work across the organization.
- Provide leadership in key process indicator (KPI) definition, structure, and the effective use of measurement data / results to drive alignment and results in multi-site organization. Organize routine operational review processes.
- Lead improvement projects across the organization to align business processes, ensure common process for customers, drive QMS efficiency, and to product consistent predictable results for Customers.
- Participate in cross-functional teams (on-site and cross-site) to drive quality initiatives
- Coaches, mentors, develops, and at times leads training on quality methods & processes
Knowledge, Skills, Experience
Strong working knowledge of Statistical data analysis, and ability to analyze data to present informationExperience and effective capabilities with ISO 9001 and continuous improvement methods (8D)Critical thinking skills, ability to understand complex issues and problems, and develop plans to address both internal, supplier and customer needs and objectivesIs a site Leader. Must have effective leadership skills.Strong communication skills, team, individual, written, verbal, listening, and presentationTeam skills, leadership without control, influence and coaching skills10+ years experience as a Manager / Director highly preferred. Experience in quality and manufacturing systems and techniques including ISO 9001, SPC, TQM and customer / supplier management requiredExperience in welding and / or electromechanical assemblies, system integration10+ years direct managementEducation, Certifications, Requirements
