About the role
The Assistant Manager - Corporate Affairs, Legal & Compliance plays a vital role in safeguarding the company's legal and regulatory standing while enhancing its corporate reputation. The role involves both internal governance and external engagement, making it critical for sustainable business operations.
What you'll be doing
Reputation Management :
- Assist in the development and execution of strategies to enhance and protect the company's reputation.
- Work with the Head of Operations and PR Agent to manage public perception, media relations, and brand positioning.
- Identify potential opportunities within various ministries and organisations that contribute to business growth.
- Monitor and ensure timely updates of content on company and related organizations' websites.
Corporate Governance & Policy Development :
Establish and implement corporate policies and procedures.Monitor and report on legislative and regulatory developments impacting the company's business.Assist in advocating for the company's interests in policy discussions and regulatory matters.Support board meetings, regulatory filings, and compliance reporting.Partner with the HODs to align compliance measures with business strategies.Oversee ethical, social, and environmental sustainability programs, e.g. ESG and CSR Initiatives.Legal & Contract Management :
Draft, vet and review contract agreements, legal documents, and assist in negotiations.Assess legal risks and develop mitigation strategies.The key liaison with external legal counsel on various legal matters and manage the company's legal costs and fees.Maintain and update legal database and documentation in a secure and organized manner.Crisis Management :
Assist in developing and implementing crisis communication plans to manage potential issues and emergencies.Support as a contact point during crises, providing timely and accurate information to stakeholders.What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in law (LLB) from a recognized institution; admitted to the Malaysian Bar is an advantage.Minimum 5 years of working experience in legal practice or in-house legal role, preferably with exposure to corporate, commercial, and contract law.Strong understanding of corporate and commercial law, as well as regulatory compliance in the hospitality sector.Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential information.Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.Proficient in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.Strong understanding of corporate and commercial law, as well as regulatory compliance in the hospitality sector
