The company is a leading logistics company specializing in Door-to-Door Automotive Logistics in Malaysia. High level activities include, Ocean and Land Transportation, Vehicle Yard Management, International and Domestic Customs Clearance.
ROLE EXPECTATION
The COO will be responsible for the execution of business strategies, operational excellence, and process optimization across all divisions. This role ensures seamless coordination between departments, cost-effective logistics solutions, and compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, supply chain management, and operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations of ocean & land transportation activities, customs clearance, and vehicle processing centers.
- Ensure on-time deliveries, cost efficiency, and high service quality.
- Implement best practices in logistics, fleet management, and vehicle processing centers.
Process Optimization & Efficiency
Streamline workflows to reduce turnaround times and operational costs.Identify opportunities for process enhancement to increase efficiency and remove financial risks.Leverage IT Systems to enhance visibility and efficiency.Develop, implement and monitor KPIs (e.g., shipment delays, IT applications utilization, storage utilization, delivery times) and implement corrective actions.Implement best practices and innovative solutions to optimize logistics and transportation workflows.Supply Chain Management
Manage relationship with suppliers, carriers and other partners to ensure reliable and cost-effective service delivery.Monitor supply chain performance metrics and adjust strategies as necessary to meet operational demands.Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, customs laws, and safety standards.Mitigate risks in transport routes, cargo handling, and documentation.Maintain relationships with port authorities, customs brokers, and transport partners.Work with the CFO to control operational budgets and reduce wastage.Develop and manage operations budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to achieve operational goals.Analyze financial data related to operations and make informed decisions to maximize profitability.Optimize utilization of assets and manpower while maintaining productivity.Team Management & Development
Lead and mentor operations managers, logistics coordinators, and vehicle processing facility teams.Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.Identify training needs and upskill employees in logistics technology.Collaborate with the CEO and work closely with sales team to ensure alignment between operational capabilities and customer expectation.Resolve escalated operational issues (delays, damages, customs disputes).Ensure smooth handoffs between sales, operations, and customer service.Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure transparency and collaboration across all business units and teams.Qualifications
15+ years in logistics / transportation, with 5+ years in senior operations roles (e.g., Operations Director, Logistics GM).Hands‑on experience using logistics systems such as ERP, TMS, and WMS.Proven experience in planning or managing IT system implementation projects related to logistics, distribution, or warehouse operations.Hands‑on expertise in Ocean Shipments, Land Transportation, Vehicle Processing Centres, Customs Clearance.#J-18808-Ljbffr
